I stayed with Nicola and James for one week and had a really amazing experience. They are very kind people and wonderful hosts. They shared a lot of knowledge about the area and made me feel very welcome from the beginning. I really appreciated being included in walks with Ringo and trips into the city. Nicola also kindly let me use her bike, which made exploring the area much easier 😊 I can highly recommend a stay with them and would happily return!

Sultan made me feel very welcome when I first arrived and the whole family took me to their home with open arms. Everyone in the family was a bit extra excited since I was the first workawayer who could speak turkish. Sultan and Aykut enjoy good conversation and they are very interested in learning new things and especially about societal differences between different countries. After already learning turkish on my earlier workawayer experience in Istanbul, with Sultan and Aykut I got to deepen my understanding about the turkish culture, society and especially the unwritten social rules and mindset of the people. They had both stayed in different western countries so they had very good insights and reflections on the cultural and societal differences. This way they could address and explain to me differences that I hadn’t eaven thought about. I felt at ease in their home and their company since my first day there. The whole family treated me with warmth and respect. Zehra and Zeynep were both very sweet. When I traveled away for a couple of days to explore some new cities in Turkey it would be especially heart warming to come back home because the girls would run to the door and hug me and be head over the heels that I’m back. I enjoyned the warm and relaxed everyday life in Sultan and Aykuts home but was very happy to also get to experience olive harvest at their mountain cabin! We drove up there for a weekend and I got to collect olives from the trees and bring them to an olive oil factory for the first time in my life. I also got to take with me home a freshly made olive oil from my own handpicked olives. How cool is that for a city girl from Finland! Osmaniye felt like a rather small city and for that reason as a quite calm and safe place. In general I tried to be home or at my hotel before 11 pm in every city I visited because it’s better to be safe than sorry. While staying in Osmaniye I traveled to Adana, Mersin, Tarsus and Gaziantep. It was easy to take a long distance bus from Osmaniye bus station to different cities in the area. Mersin was at the seaside and there was a beautiful coast line and a huge mosque that I visited. In Tarsus there are many historically interesting places especially tied to christianity. I especially liked Gaziantep with it’s narrow streets and cute small shops in the old city center. All of these smaller cities felt really safe to be in. Adana was the only city where I felt a bit unsafe but sticking to busy areas where there are people and lights in the evening I felt fine. In every city that I visited in Turkey I found people to be very helpful and friendly! If I asked someone which bus to take to a certain place people wouldn’t be happy just appointing me to the right bus. They would also make sure to talk to the bus driver and tell him that “this is a foreigner and you need to make sure that she arrives in this place and tell her where to go out”. In Turkey I enjoy most of all the people with their warm and welcoming attitude. And it goes without saying that the food is AMAZING. I can definitely recommend a stay with this family! They were so wonderful people that my stay of less than 3 weeks was way too short! That’s why I made a holy promise (especially to the girls) that I will come back 😊❤️

My best workaway experience so far! what a nice place and beautiful country to be in. i stayed here 6 weeks and i really enjoyed my time here working with the team and helping to make the village a more nicer place to give the guests the best experience! i come with my kitesurfing gear and as a instructor so in my free time i could kitesurf and on the working days i worked 6 hours a day, mostly 4 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon but it depends if there are guest staying. if there where guest who wanted to take lessons i would teach them together with a local instructor. the lagoon is a very nice place for kitesurfing! i really love the local people from the team and i want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for having me. i also enjoyed everyday local meals from mommy cooking! my favorite? everything!! hopefully i will return some day and wish everyone from the village the best of luck. if you like nature and experience local Sri Lanka? you have to volunteer on this place if you have the chance!!🙏🏻❤️ Estuti, godak hondai, uya bowan🫡🤘🏽

The experience at the hostel working with Cat, Sharma and Brenda has been a lot of fun. We had a great time, went out partying, and had family dinner with their friends and guests. thank u guys for everything! Mirissa is a beautiful place, has a really nice beach and sunset and spending time together was much better!

We want to say a big thank you to Olivia, Colt, and their boys. We had a wonderful time staying with them for five weeks. We shared many great projects together in the garden, enjoyed very delicious food, and were even lucky enough to spend Christmas with them and be part of it. They also helped us a lot with our car, which meant so much to us, as they gave their time and energy to help us. They all truly grew very close to our hearts. We hope we will see them again one day. Anyone who gets the chance to be a Workawayer with them can consider themselves very lucky. They have big plans ahead, and we sincerely wish them all the best in creating their dream home.

Josephene is truly a superhost who made my Workaway experience unforgettable. She is really friendly and always engages in conversation, listening with genuine care. Also, she taught me a lot about LA and gave me many new experiences. She introduced me to local dishes and sweets I had never tried before, and encouraged me to try new experiences, making every day full of discoveries and learning. She also showed me around the city, went out with me when we had free time, and recommended great places to visit. Also, her cooking was always varied,well-balanced,and absolutely delicious. The tasks were never difficult, and some were even very interesting. Her instructions were always clear and precise, so I always knew exactly what to do. Additionally, her place is conveniently located near public transportation, making it easy to get anywhere. She also patiently explained directions whenever I went out, which was very helpful. This stay allowed me to learn a lot, grow, and have an amazing experience. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories!

This was such a wonderful and unique experience. I’m truly grateful for the time we spent here and would highly recommend this Workaway to anyone. It was my first-ever Workaway, and I’m so happy I got to experience it with my friend. From the beginning, Jacinda and Jason always checked in on us and made sure we were comfortable and never overworked. The food was delicious, and the room was clean, organised, and very comfortable. Learning about Māori culture and hearing stories about Takaka Hill and its hidden gems was incredibly special. They are so knowledgeable about the place they live in, and it was inspiring to learn from them. All of the tasks were new to us, which made everything even more fun and memorable. We also loved spending time with the kids—playing Monopoly, cricket, and jumping on the trampoline together brought so many laughs. Thank you so much for everything. We’ll definitely be back again with Taku… mainly to get more cookies 😉

We were so lucky to have found Maria to host us. She was extremely kind, hospitable, and warmly welcomed us into her home. Her house has beautiful architecture and Maria has done a wonderful job decorating it and keeping it very clean. It was also walking distance from many shops/cafes/bars, truly the best location!! The work we did was simple; we mowing lawns, gardening/weeding, and cleaning taking up most of our working hours. Maria was also very open to planning our work duties around a schedule that allowed us to explore Auckland and her gorgeous neighborhood near Ponsonby Rd. We loved hanging out with Maria, sharing stories and learning about her colorful past; growing up on a vineyard and travelling the world. Maria also gave us plenty of recommendations, allowing us to make the most of our time in Auckland. She was always so excited to hear about our adventures and offered great advice. We hope to keep in touch with Maria for a long time, and are so grateful for her insight and wisdom. Our stay with her could not have been better and we look forward to reconnecting in the future.

These two are the best! Judith and Adria are very intelligent, hardworking and friendly. Whether the task was physically or mentally challenging, they always did their best and to a high standard of quality. They helped with various tasks including animal care, tree cutting, bamboo clearing, farming and even helping with editing of a book! They'd be welcomed back anytime.

I would like to give thanks to Natalie offering me the opportunity to know her community in Hof Kotthausen. The first few weeks, Natalie had been so caring and helpful arranging my daily needs living in the red Waggon. I'm so thankful for that :) It's been another blessing staying in Hof Kotthausen after Velbert. I was able to experience more local family culture in this small community, that warmed my heart I must say! That was not what I could experience in popular tourist spots! Besonders meine unvergessliche Erinnerung an das Pferdeteam, meine Liebe zu allen Pferden und Ponys; dem freundlichen Buddy und allen Tieren im Hof Kotthausen ❤️ I learnt new things while helping in some renovation work, and it's good to know the German tradition! Renovation work is never easy for a tiny thin lady like me but it was interesting though Finally I would like to give thanks to all the kind people I met in Hof Kotthausen, I wish you all health, happiness and every success in 2026 🥳 Hope to see you all again soon 🙏🏻

We had a beautiful time at tjakis and Madelaines place. It's a really different and conscious life they're living which is definitely interesting to experience. We had various task where we helped out and everything was well explained. Our highlight for sure was the delicious, organic shared dinners, good chats and fun time with their beautiful kids. We felt very seen and appreciated during our stay. Thank you for your kindness and warming presence ✨

I stayed with Dianna and Gilly in Enderby for five weeks with my friend Kirsty and had an amazing experience. Their home is spacious, peaceful, and very welcoming. From day one, they treated us like family. We had the privilege of participating in a sweat lodge, drum making, and a pipe ceremony, which were meaningful and memorable cultural experiences we’re extremely grateful for. The work mainly involved chopping wood, preparing for ceremonies, some odd jobs and helping prepare the property for winter, which was rewarding and interesting. We also enjoyed cooking some meals for them. We got to celebrate Thanksgiving with their extended family and were welcomed into the gathering, which was a real highlight. Thank you both for your generosity, kindness, and the unforgettable experience. We highly recommend staying with Dianna and Gilly

Diana was a pleasure to have around for 2 months. She helped us with multiple tasks around the house including weeding, cooking, cleaning and babysitting. Over the Christmas period, she was super creative in making some delicious meals and platters using lots of creativity. We were very lucky to have her around and truly enjoyed her company. She is very independent, so many times she did her own thing, leaving us to have our space when needed. All the tasks were completed with pride, and she always sought to do her best. Diana is a genuine and authentic person, she is eager to learn new things and doesn't mind to do long hours of work. I would recommend her to any host and welcome her back anytime.

Erika & Lewis We’re both amazing volunteers. They are such a great couple with great energy. They came as a volunteer but left as a family. They helped me build my chicken coop and also at the farm which was such a great help. I definitely recommend them to be best volunteers. Thank you for all :)

Zhiying & Xiaoyu stay with us was very pleasant and I’m great full for there help at our farm house. They are both very friendly and with a great personality getting along with all the people around . I really wished they could stay longer to help us here . And also taking care of my little ones for which I’m very greatfull :) I definitely recommend them both to be best volunteers. Thank you 😊 and you always have a space at my home here in Kathmandu.

We love hosting people like Ian as he has a big heart and is great at looking after people, he's a great cook, and he keeps things clean and tidy. I wish we had more volunteers with those skills! Highly recommended to any host. Thanks Ian.
