We experienced Michael as a very hardworking, pro active & kind man. He helped us immensely by harvesting a lot of alfalfa daily, even during the hotter hours of the day, with walking the dogs and feeding all the animals daily, and with the preparations of creating a sheep barn. Michael is very social and enjoys the others' company, but also enjoys spending time on his own, immersing himself into the peacefulness of the place or diving deep into the work that has to be done. Thank you so much Michael! We recommend him to any other host who is considering to host him :)

We enjoyed Kim's company and help at the project a lot. She is a committed, curious, friendly, and calm person and always ready to help. Kim worked indoors cooking and cleaning, and despite the heat, helped mostly outside with the alfalfa harvest and preparations for the sheep barn. We are grateful for her help and recommend her to every host reading this.

The most wonderful people at most beautiful house in italy (our humble opinion) We stayed with Giovanna and Riccardo for one week, and we NEED to go back to stay longer in the future. Giovanna and Riccardo were so nice and great to talk to❤️ The work was very relaxing since our workplace was either the beautiful house or the nice smells of the rose garden☺️ We are going back in the future, and we would really recommend everybody else doing the same☺️ Ciao and see you next time Klara and Estrid

Erik was a wonderful person to have around and helping with the animals. With his calm and gentle nature he took time to observe and connect with the animals here , spending time with them and being still with them which was perfect. Erik was responsible for feeding the pigs, chickens, bird and turtles. he was always reliable and I felt confident leaving him with the tasks, which he performed perfectly. I could tell the animals also liked and appreciated him :-) Would highly recommend him.

We had the pleasure of hosting Fabio for a month in May this year. During that time he carried out a variety of gardening jobs - weeding, hoeing, planting out, potting on, washing the greenhouse etc. All the work he did was excellent. Fabio is conscientious to a fault and I regularly had to ask him to stop working because he would continue, after the agreed hours, in order to finish a job. Every morning he emptied the dishwasher without ever being asked and this was just indicative of his helpfulness. Fabio came to us at a busy time but he took this in his stride. We found him very agreeable and sociable and he got on well with all members of the family. He has no difficulty communicating fluently in English. We enjoyed playing numerous boardgames with in the evening and I think we converted Fabio to 'Ticket to Ride' by the end of his stay. Although he would regularly throw his hands in the air in exasperation at the luck of the game play. Fabio cooked delicious pasta for us three times while he was here - Carbonara, Pasta e Patate con la Provola (although we couldn't find provola) and Rigatoni allo Scarpariello. The potato pasta was a real eye-opener on the variety of Italian dishes we have yet to discover. Fabio also explained to us the 'rules' or etiquette of Italian cuisine. Things like - no chicken with pasta!!! All this was explained in a light-hearted way to exemplify how seriously Italians take their food and we laughed a lot. He tolerated well our regular Irish infringements of the 'rules'. Fabio told us many stories about his home, Campania (the true food capital of Italy where driving is a 'feeling'). In fact we are now convinced to take a holiday in Campania in the near future but I fear that driving being 'a feeling' has dissuaded us from hiring a car! We are sorry to see Fabio go but know that he will do wonderfully on the next leg of his adventure and will prove an asset to whoever hosts him next. I have no hesitation in recommending Fabio and would gladly welcome him back here any time.

If you’re in Georgia looking for a place to volunteer I cannot for the life of me imagine a better place you can spend your time. But I also understand some people like to know the living conditions don’t like to live life on the edge and grab life by its horns. So the following is some additional information. 1. The host - Petr. He a super chill and happy person. He is also fundamentally good natured. His philosophy is that the volunteers come and give so much to the place so he needs to value and treasure them. So you will find a safe haven here where any ideas are accepted because he is a kind person. Also he appreciates creativity and gives you absolute freedom to complete the tasks and he doesn’t micro manage. He is also very patient and he brought all the volunteers to different places like the banana beach and some ancient run down fortress. 2. The work - the work isn’t hard. Hour wise it’s longer than other places I’ve been however it’s not tiring manual labor. For me it’s fun stuff. If you’re expecting a fixed time like 9am to 1pm this isn’t the place. Some days can be very long but other days there’s like be practically nothing to do. Depends on the number of guests and other factors. I did some murals and cooked for the volunteers and some cleaning. Petr is also hard working so I never felt like I’m working so much and he’s just doing nothing. 3. The food - food here is just so much. Even if you’re a huge dude and some places don’t give you enough food, this will not be a problem here. Taste wise, the food ranges from very good to amazing. So what you will get here is both quality and quantity. You will have to be an extremely fussy eater to not be blown away by the wonderful food here. Location. The place is in a village and 1.5 hours cycle to the beach and some hours drive to the mountain. There’s many abandoned buildings to explore and if you like such places this place is wonderful. Also the trees are covered with moss and super beautiful. Also FIREFLIES. My top 3 experiences include fireflies lighting up the forest, cycling to the beach with another volunteer and spending an afternoon sitting by a beehive in a random neighbors’s house. The upside to this location is it’s super relaxing you will feel like you retired and living a retired life. The downside is it can be boring if you are expecting really extroverted volunteers and do a lot of fun stuff this is unlikely to happen. Group activities just depends on luck and it’s possible the other volunteers just like to doom scrolling bed for the whole day. 5- Accommodations is a bunk bed. All the volunteers I met in my 2 months were really quiet and polite so it was a pleasure always. And we had this culture where we would complete our jobs and then help each other. It’s a nice sense of camaraderie. Petr has a daily list and then we can all divide it. There’s hot showers and flush toilets and it’s really clean. Overall I’ll say one month here would be amazing. If you’re tired and need a place to take a break this place is the perfect fit.

Hello :) I stayed 2 weeks at Francisca's and Joaos Place. Both of them are very nice and caring. The work was a bit flexible (we did a bit of weeding, painting, setting up a shadow area,...) so not only one job for 2 weeks what was great:) If you like a quiet environment this is a good place for you! Will definitely come back when I'm again in Lisbon or near here. Thank you for everything 😊

I stayed with Soo for 12 days, and overall it was a very positive experience. As described in the profile, my tasks included cleaning, sorting and organizing some belongings, and helping with a bit of cooking. The workload was fair and manageable, leaving me with plenty of free time to explore the area. The location is also very convenient, with a bus stop just a short walk from the house. From there, it takes around 30–40 minutes to reach the city centre, making it easy to discover the surrounding area during your time off. Soo and her son Simon were welcoming and respectful, and I appreciated the opportunity to experience local life while contributing to the household. I would recommend this host to other Workawayers looking for a relaxed and balanced exchange.

I'll be very specific: this place and the Miyamoto family's house, both as a permaculture project and as a space for immersion in Japanese culture, were excellent. It was an opportunity to learn and contribute, and a place to meet other Workawayers and make new friends. Jerome and Hannako are wonderful hosts. I want to express my gratitude and wish them all the best. I highly recommend it.

Albina settled in so well here that we not only extended her stay, but she ended up house sitting while I took a week away. She's a very hard worker, who wasn't bothered by any tasks and was able to work independently while I was busy with my work. She got along with all the animals, and we were able to watch films in French together, which was fun. Albina is very outgoing, happy, enthusiastic, trustworthy and confident. She was also very supportive as a friend, and we had lots of laughs and cooked foccacia often. She would have stayed even longer, but was able to secure employment locally and we will be keeping in touch. I would highly recommend Albina to anyone considering her as a workaway, and I'm grateful for everything she helped me with here.

We were truly impressed by Nicolas. He is an outstanding and remarkably wise individual. He knows how to care for people and show genuine love and compassion. He is considerate in all that he does and approaches every responsibility with sincerity, dedication, and wholehearted commitment. His kindness, thoughtfulness, and genuine concern for others leave a lasting impression on everyone around him.

We stayed for 10 days with Hillary near Herrera, Spain, and had a really lovely experience. When we arrived in the evening, everyone was relaxing by the pool, which immediately gave a very welcoming and laid-back feeling. There were also two other Workawayers from Brazil, both super easygoing and kind, which made the atmosphere even nicer from the start. Our dog was warmly welcomed too, and got along well with Hillary’s dog. The work mainly consisted of gardening tasks like mowing the lawn, weeding, pruning trees and rose bushes. It wasn’t complicated work, but it could be physically demanding because of the heat. That said, there was always flexibility — if it got too hot, it was completely fine to stop earlier. We usually worked in the mornings when it was still cooler, then refreshed and had lunch together. Lunch was always between 2 and 3 pm, cooked by Hillary, and it was consistently delicious. After that, there was plenty of free time to relax, enjoy the pool, or take a siesta, which made the rhythm of the days feel very balanced. A special highlight was celebrating my (Sebastiaan) birthday during our stay. Together we organized a really nice gathering, and some of Hillary’s friends joined as well. It turned into a very warm and memorable evening. Overall, it was a very pleasant and relaxed place to stay for 10 days. Hillary created a comfortable environment where we felt welcome and at ease, and it was a great mix of working, relaxing, and connecting with others.

I visited this place several times for short stays, first as a volunteer while the guest house itself was still being built. It was my very first experience of this kind of volunteer trip, and I was so happy to find myself in such an environment and meet people from all over the world. It was incredibly interesting to use my woodworking skills and help with different building tasks, as well as cook delicious vegetarian meals for the team in the kitchen! I even spent some time living in a tent in the forest on the property (completely by choice), which became a special memory for me. Walking around the area in winter, collecting mandarins from the neighbors’ gardens, and seeing wild calla lilies in summer was amazing. I met wonderful people there, and I still keep in touch with some of them. Later, when the guest house became fully operational, I came back to create content and help with Instagram as an SMM creator, once again enjoying the atmosphere of this healing place. Thank you so much for this opportunity, for the experience, and for opening the door to the world of volunteering for me!

After almost a year we still have such warm feelings and memories about our stay with Suzie and Francois. It really was the best place we could have hoped for. A loving family who welcomed us with open arms and made us feel right at home from the first moment we arrived. The place itself is beautiful and serene. The water that constantly flows from the mountain through the land, makes it such a magical spot! Showering or having a warm bath underneath the orange trees, with views over the valley was the best. But what made it truly unforgettable was the wonderful connection we shared. Suzie and Francois are incredibly kind, generous, and loving people. We did many great activities together, yet there was always plenty of space and freedom to do your own thing. The work we did ranged from gardening, carpentry, cooking, painting and sometimes looking after their lovely kid. There is always space for your own ideas and wishes: we really enjoyed working there! At the time we were there, there were 2 other volunteers and Suzie’s mom. All together we had a wonderfull dynamic and it really felt as a family. If you are looking for a place where you can contribute, learn, and meet beautiful souls, this is it. We are missing this quiet life a lot and hope to be back! Obrigado!

I just spent ten amazing days with Katherine, Mitch, and their children! The work was fair and not difficult. I helped Katherine feed the farm animals, did some weeding, and spread mulch to prepare the plants for winter. I also looked after the children for a day — they are wonderful and full of energy! Katherine and Mitch were very flexible with the schedule. For example, they allowed me to enjoy a beautiful sunny day to do the Key Summit Track hike. They also lent me a bike, which was really convenient for going on rides! Katherine and Mitch are very kind and truly made me feel part of the family. We had great conversations, and I learned so much about New Zealand (despite my questionable English!). I was also able to join the children for their sports activities. And on top of that, I really enjoyed Katherine’s delicious meals! Sleeping in the caravan in the garden was also really nice, as it gave me some personal space and felt a bit like having my own little home. If you enjoy working outdoors, want to discover an energetic and super friendly family, and stay in the middle of a beautiful region, I 100% recommend stopping here!

Kathryn is a wonderful person whom I have had the pleasure of hosting here. She works intelligently and with dedication at her own pace, and I am grateful for all she did, mostly outside in the garden area, as well as cleaning and repairing clothes.. She worked both on her own and alongside me. She has great communication skills and I certainly liked our interesting conversations. Kathryn adapted easily to the habits of this household and was happy with what I could offer her. I can highly recommend her as a Workawayer.

I really enjoyed my two weeks at John's and Laura's. The club is quite a special place in Orewa, the little house for the volunteers is surrounded by their forest on top of the hill. I enjoyed the views, the peace and nature (lots of birds :) that it brought me. I worked with John on the little house he's refitting, lots of dust "), but nice projects to work on. He taught me how to use some tools, he was really patient and super nice. We also did some gardening, that was some physical work I must say but fun ") and a lot of lawn mowing and spraying. I also did gardening stuff with Laura such as replanting green onions, weeding flower beds, ... and some house work cleaning windows. I went to the Orewa beach nearly everday, to the reserves in the city, Laura took me to an other beach a bit further and showed me the way to a really cool nature reserve where I went on my day off. John suggested me some cool walks too :) They are nice people, they care for their volunteers, they will tell you surprising stories between two strikes of hammer or from across the garden ") I definitely recommend staying with them :))
