Description
Hello Workawayers!
We are a South African/ Canadian family that have a house in a village in the middle of the countryside of North West Bulgaria, this humble rural house is a place of peace and rest. We are a family of travelers and are in and out throughout the year.
We are currently in our house and busy with some renovation projects and gardening. If you want to spend some time in a rural village in Bulgaria and want to be introduced to our lovely language, Afrikaans ( old Dutch with a spicy mix) , contact me!
We are looking for a workawayer or a couple who can join us until end of August/ beginning of September.
The house is a large old village house with lots of space and a big garden. There is a very good internet connection. The house is not luxurious but an old country village house, but livable. There is a well-equipped kitchen, a flushable toilet, and a somewhat hot shower (one of our projects).
Groceries and fresh products are all available in the village at the local grocery stores, not the biggest but good enough.
There is a coffee shop and some restaurants in the village, everything within 15 min walk.
Public transport is available to and from Vratsa on a daily basis. Sofia is reachable by bus and then with a train. Sofia is 180 km from the village.Types of help and learning opportunities

You will have time to explore the rural area of Bulgaria and can go to Sofia on weekends. We can introduce you to some of our native language ( Afrikaans, very much like old Dutch) and this can be an interesting experience. If your English is not very good, no problem, one of us is a TESL ( teaching English as second language) teacher!
We can come and meet you in Sofia and ride with you on the train and bus to our village , to introduce you to the area.
PERFECT for someone or for a couple or two friends who want to live in the countryside with some quiet and peace in a Bulgarian village for a few weeks. Ideal for tired travelers and for those working or studying online who want to be in a peaceful village for a few weeks.
BUT this workaway not work for people who are not comfortable with country living and who want luxury living, as the house is in a small village, and not a luxury house.
People with allergies to dogs, plants, pollen and dust might find it uncomfortable as the area has a lot of plants, we do have dogs, and there are dusty roads in the village.
So keep in mind that it is a village house still under renovation, but with good internet and livable with your own private room.
Those who wants a lively social environment might find this too lonely as there are very few young people in this village and very few who can speak English, but those who wants to live in a peaceful environment will love it! Couples are welcome.
We require you to stay at least two weeks, with a maximum stay of 4 weeks.
One more thing...
You must love dogs :)Help
We need help with some light renovation projects and cleaning out our very old barn. We also need help in the garden. I am not a good cook, so I am also open to someone coming who would like to cook us one nice meal a day or even just make sandwiches during lunch time!
We have 3 fluffy Doodle dogs , who will adore you, so you need to be ok to be around dogs as they live and sleep in the house. You can take the dogs for walks if you want, but they have a big yard and walks aren't mandatory. You can also just play with them.

Volunteers will get their own private bedroom, it is not a luxury bedroom, but you will have the privacy of your own bedroom.
NOTE* we don't provide food if you work 3 hours a day or less. If you work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, there will be basic self-help meals plus coffee and tea.
There is plenty of space to chill and drink your coffee while listening to the birds singing.
It is a very cozy atmosphere here, a no-stress zone. We are easy-going and not demanding at all. You can decide what project you want to work on, and do it on your own time. What else ...
There is a beautiful river running through the village, close to our house. It is a nice place for hiking, mushroom collecting, picnics, and fishing. Or go and drink a frappe at the local coffee shop, they have some of the best coffee in the country some one told me!
