Description
Raglan (Surfing Capital of NZ) is a great place to be, even for those who don't like the waves.
I dont answer messages when my calendar is blocked - RED
I'm a retired Nurse and former Organic Beef Farmer who moved from the farm into urban Raglan at the start of 2024. It's a big change being in the village and establishing a new property.
Planting, and infrastructure is well under way but I could still do with some help.
It's s wonderful living close to the ocean, for which I'm a strong advocate.
I'm deeply interested in things of a spiritual nature and the human energetic system, understood now through evidence from Quantum Physics.
I'm learning Spanish & was in Spain in October '24 😁 -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Staying and working with me is about so much more than just getting a job done. We start out as strangers and depart as friends. Having farmed organically for over 30 years I have lots of lived experience to share. Some former volunteers are still in regular contact & remain great friends. Ive also collected lots of books about sustainable gardening & land use which I'm very happy for you to dip in to while here.
These, along with my material about spirituality and energetic therapies may be of interest. -
Help
Im now developing my property using Urban Permaculture design principles. A fabulous project that you can get involved with. Converting a bare/ weedy block of land into a place of life and vitality. The change in just 2 years is extraordinary. Current jobs include planting, weeding, spreading mulch, building garden infrastructure.

Accommodation
Queen sized bed in a loft bedroom inside the house. A shared bathroom, living space & kitchen. Wifi, washing machine. No TV connection, but a moderate screen you can hook up to a device.
I will provide all meals & accommodation in return for 3 - 4 hours of help per day. We can be flexible about when this is undertaken during hot or wet weather. -
What else ...
After our mornings activites there is the beach, surf, bush & coast walks, fishing, cafes or just relaxing on the deck overlooking the bush reserve and listening to the cicadas and birds

She helped in the garden , very good with the electric weed trimmer & all the other tasks plus she bakes amazing cakes.
We had such interesting conversations (her English is better than mine) 😁
No hesitation in making a recommendation
This woman is right up there with the best WWers.
I'm so glad we decided to work together in my garden . Jasmine is a careful, adventurous (very willing to learn & experience new things) thoughtful & kind person.
Yummy, authentic, Cornish Pasties as well!!
Welcome home any time 😁

Thank you so much for the workaway experience and the fantastic time we had together. From the very beginning, you made us feel at home by giving us a little tour of Raglan and a warm welcome to your home. You are a super friendly, sweet, and open host. We learned a great amount about gardening and countless different plants, and … read more
Sophie was a wonderful house guest and Workawayer at my place. Her gardening skills are fantastic and I was able to learn from her. Sophie is a person who just gets on with things quite independently and relaiably. Makes the worlds best pancakes & lots of fun too.
