  • Description

    Description

We are a warm and welcoming teacher family living in Magelang, Central Java, near the beautiful Borobudur area, surrounded by rice fields, hills, and rich Javanese culture. Our daily life is simple, meaningful, and closely connected to the local community.

Our family consists of two parents who work as teachers and two cheerful, active young boys who love meeting new people and learning about different cultures. Education and cultural exchange are very important to us, and we believe learning happens not only in the classroom but also through real-life experiences and human connection.

Our “project” is centered around supporting learning activities at a local school. We invite volunteers to join us in helping students practice basic English, share stories, play educational games, and bring new perspectives to their world. You don’t need to be a professional teacher—what matters most is your enthusiasm, kindness, and willingness to engage with the children.

In addition to school activities, you will become part of our daily family life. You can help with light daily routines, join us in local events, explore nearby villages, and experience authentic Javanese traditions such as communal meals, cultural values, and simple countryside living. We also love sharing local food and introducing you to our way of life.

We see this experience as a two-way cultural exchange. While you share your knowledge and culture with us and our students, we will share our home, traditions, and daily life with you. We hope you leave not only with memories, but also with a deeper understanding of Indonesian and Javanese culture.

We are excited to welcome open-minded, respectful, and friendly volunteers who are eager to learn, share, and become part of our family, even if just for a short time.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Travellers will experience authentic daily life in a Javanese family, far beyond typical tourism. By living with us, you will learn about local values such as respect, togetherness, and gotong royong (community cooperation), which are an important part of our culture.

Through your involvement at the school, you will gain hands-on experience interacting with students, developing communication skills, and understanding the local education system. You will also learn how to adapt creatively when teaching or sharing knowledge in a different cultural setting.

Outside of school, you will have the opportunity to explore village life, try traditional foods, and take part in local customs and simple community activities. You may also learn basic Indonesian language and everyday expressions used in daily conversation.

This exchange is not only about what you give, but also what you gain—new perspectives, meaningful connections, and a deeper understanding of life in Indonesia. Many volunteers leave with unforgettable memories, a sense of belonging, and friendships that last beyond their stay.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for friendly and open-minded volunteers who enjoy working with children and are interested in cultural exchange. The main help we need is at the local school, where you can interact with students, support basic English practice, share stories about your country, and create fun learning activities such as games, songs, or simple creative projects.

You don’t need formal teaching experience—your presence, enthusiasm, and willingness to connect with the students are what matter most. We usually ask for around 3–4 hours of help per day, 4–5 days a week, giving you plenty of free time to relax or explore the surrounding area.

Outside of school, you may also help with light daily activities at home and join our family routines. This could include simple tasks, playing with our children, or participating in local community life.

We want this to be a meaningful and enjoyable experience for both you and our family—where you can contribute, learn, and truly feel at home.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a private and comfortable bedroom for guests. They can also use the internet network with a speed of 40 Mbps for free. In other rooms that directly face the rice fields behind the house can also be used. It depends on which room they want to choose.
In our area there are also various types of public transportation. We can also help find scooters to rent so that mobility will be easier and cheaper. We will pick up some volunteers according to where they get off. The motorbikes they can use are automatic motorbikes so they are not difficult to drive. Because we enjoy seeing tourist attractions, we will also be happy to take them to the places they want to visit, congratulations, we have time in the middle of our work routine.
My wife is good at cooking. Some guests who feel her cooking are very happy. The volunteers also often share how to cook and my wife also tries recipes from the volunteers' home countries. It's very interesting. I can taste dishes from various countries cooked in our kitchen.
