Description
We are now looking for Workawayers in 2024 from 1. april - 1. october.
My name is Fredrik, I am 50 years old and I am the leader of the Høidalen, Sætre and Åsland cultural history association. We are a voluntary organization that works with walking trails, bicycle trails and maintenance of cultural and historical buildings in our area.Types of help and learning opportunities
Charity WorkArt ProjectsHelp with Eco ProjectsGardeningDIY and building projectsGeneral MaintenanceCultural exchange and learning opportunities
The Workawayers will be a part of an international group and will have cultural exchange were you will work alongside with each other and my family. Our experience is that WorkAwayers who live together often go on joint canoe trips and joint hikes and biking trips in the local area. You can also borrow a car and explore Gaustatoppen and other nearby popular hiking destinations. There is a difference in the cultural exchange based on the season. In the spring there is a lot of contact with the hiking and cycling community. In the summer there is closer contact with the family and in the autumn there is more contact with the hiking and cycling community as well as the hunters in the area.
Help
We would like to invite 3-6 Workawayers to stay in our simple but beautiful cabins in april to october to help us with a number of different tasks: Maintenance of walking and cycling paths, maintenance of historic buildings as well as cleaning of toilets and maintenance of houses for volunteers.
We also need help developing our profile on social media. We need help to publish posts, take pictures and make videos.
We also love if you have experience with: Art, Social media, drones, mechanical work, carpentry, forestwork, cleaning or other skills to make the place even better.
You will help 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. You will often be able to decide your own working hours and possibly work longer shifts to get more days off.
Workawayers needs to have a driving licence.Languages spoken
English: Fluent
Norwegian bokmål: Fluent
German: BeginnerAccommodation
Basic simple cabins. Very basic conditions with an outdoor shower and simple toilet facilities. There is no minimum pay in Norway for this kind of work and we can only offer you board and lodging for your help. You will receive a card that allows you to buy your own food at the local supermarket (15km away).
What else ...
Explore the natural wildlife (moose, dear, beaver), hiking, biking, fishing and canoe trips. We recommend a self organized "Canoe Moose safari" at sunset. It is magic!
Workawayers can use the organization's cars to explore the area on their own. We recommend visiting Trolltunga (4 hours away) and Gaustadtoppen (2 hours away).
You will live and work together with an international team. You will have plenty of free time to explore the fantastic hiking, paddling and cycling opportunities in the area.A little more information

My experience at the campsite was shorter than I expected, as honestly, I didn’t find a strong connection with my teammates—perhaps due to the difference in age and interests. But this doesn’t mean my experience was bad, quite the opposite. The campsite is located in a wonderful place surrounded by an ancient and magical… read more
He has been a great resource for our association and has, among other things, made a wooden staircase and a moose on skis! The moose on skis now stands as an eye-catcher at the entrance to the cycling circuit.
