Description
Lend a hand and join in to build up our ecological farm on Hiiumaa-island in the northwestern part of Estonia. We are Beatrix (55) and Christian (59), experienced Waldorf teachers and gardeners, and in the process of designing our non-profit permaculture farm for seminars and workshops. Coming from Germany we develop our projekt every year from the begining of june till the beginning of october.
Our farmplace is in Isabella küla, near Körgessaare on Hiiumaa. Meadows with neighbor cows and forests are surrounding us and mainly you can hear the sounds of nature. There are many healing plants just around the farm and wild berries in the forest. Our idea for the projekt is to create a place, where people can come down from daily life and live in a sustainable and natural way.
In the yard we have pretty old an new buildings in construction. The kitchen is in a tent and the bathroom outside with solar shower and composting toilet. Living is possible in a tent or in the house under construction. Mainly we eat our own ecological vegetables and are cooking often vegan - allergies and food intolerances are no problem.
Your working time per day will be 5 hours with several jobs in maintanance, gardenwork or building. The weekend is free. Normally we start with breakfast at 8.30 h, have lunch at 13.00 h and dinner at 19.00 h. You can stay at least 3 days up to as long as you want till the begining of October.
Hiiumaa is called the island of landscapes, so you can find different places like little hills, swamps, bogs and sand dunes. To go for swimming you find several places, nearest is about 15 min by car or 40 min by bicycle, which both we have. Kärdla is the captial city of Hiiumaa with 3000 inhabitants and about 20 km from us. Here you can find shops, restaurant and coffeeshops.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Often our neighbors step in our yard, all native estonians and born on Hiiumaa. They like meeting foreign people and you will get to know them soon. There is a little cultural program on the island, we often take part. You are very welcome to accompany us.
During the daily life you can learn many things about ecological farming - Christian experienced
many years in biodynamical gardening and seminar teacher for garden students. Beatrix loves cooking, baking and building. She can show you all with a lot of patience.Projects involving children
