    Description

We are a family of three living in central Taiwan. My husband and I are both software developers, and I am currently working from home, so I can host you. We have a 6 year old son who is very active and like to talk to people!

Join the Workaway community, and hope to help our child practice English. We can also help you experience the daily life and local culture of Taiwan.

We hope that our encounter can bring new inspiration and growth to each other's lives, and if one day our child goes to your country in the same way as you do now, he will be treated well, just like I welcome you with all my heart today.

We look forward to seeing you!

    Best regards,
    Rita

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You can practice teaching in English and learn Traditional Chinese in the process.

You will experience authentic Taiwanese family life. You will develop independence and flexibility by being in a different cultural environment.

If we have free time, we are also happy to take you to the surrounding areas to explore the beautiful scenery of Taichung. If you want to learn to cook Taiwanese food, I can teach you. I also look forward to learning new things from you.

    Help

We hope to invite friends from all over the world to live and study with our family through cultural exchange. The main communication partner is our six-year-old son. We hope you can share your culture with him, tell him about your country, your life experience or what you love.

    Main assistance content:
Spend time with our 6 year old child to learn English through games, conversations and fun activities.

    Additional notes:
    1. The communication time is about 3 to 4 hours a day, with flexible arrangements. Weekends and evenings are free, and you can explore Taichung or other cities in Taiwan.

    2. This is an idea based on cultural exchange and volunteer spirit. We will provide accommodation, meals and local cultural experience in return.

Looking forward to creating a warm and meaningful cross-border exchange experience with you!

    Living environment:
We live in a quiet countryside, and you can see the rice fields from the window, yet it is convenient to buy daily necessities. It takes about 50-60 minutes to get to downtown Taichung by public transportation. Here is a public bicycle rental system (UBike) nearby, so you can explore the surrounding area by bike.

    Space introduction:
We live in an apartment building with an elevator, not a single-family home. Our home offers private rooms with meals included. There is no bathroom in the room, you will need to share the bathroom with our family. Welcome to use our kitchen and cook your hometown cuisine.

    Food arrangement:
Breakfast is usually simple, such as toast, bread or steamed buns. Lunch is usually bought outside, mostly bento with rice or noodles. For dinner, if we have time, we will cook it ourselves. The content is usually stir-fried vegetables, fried eggs or fish soup, which is lighter and homely. We are not vegetarians, and our usual meals include meat or seafood. If you have any allergies or dietary needs, please let us know in advance and we will try our best to adjust.

    Accommodation guide:
    1. If you are a non-smoker, we welcome you to stay in this pure and comfortable home

    2. We live in a quiet community building, so in order to respect other residents, please try to stay quiet after 10 pm.

    3. If you want to invite friends to visit, just tell us in advance and we will be happy to cooperate with the arrangement.

    4. We put a lot of effort into creating this home, and we hope you can care for it as we do.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Taichung has a pleasant climate and convenient transportation, making it a good place for both traveling and living.

You can visit the Museum of Natural Science and watch the sunset and fiddler crabs at Gaomei Wetland. Taichung has a diverse range of food, from traditional snacks to emerging restaurants. There are also many night markets in Taichung, the most famous of which is Fengjia Night Market.

There is a hiking trail in Zhu Keng Nan Liao near where we live, as well as a bicycle path.
