    Description

I live in a rural university town, so there is often a bit more happening culturally than in towns this size. It's quite a multicultural community, partly due to the uni.
Armidale is about half way between Sydney and Brisbane, on the New England Tablelands. About 1000m altitude, so nicely cooler than other places around.
I work part-time for an agroecological community NGO. Although there may be potential for volunteering through my work at times I would like some help around home, gardening etc, maybe cooking if you like to, possibly a bit of pet-sitting.
I've been a workawayer while travelling myself and met some lovely people. I would like to return the favour, seeing as I'm grounded for a while.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Visit local attractions, rivers, waterfalls, bushland & bushtucka walks, countryside drives, potential farm visits on occasion. Live music, whatever is on in town at the time.
    English (Australian) practice.
Hope to exchange ideas, enjoy conversations and learn about places I might want to visit one day.

  • Help

    Help

General help around the house and yard, gardening, mowing, cooking, washing up, whatever you feel you can help with. I'm flexible with what help I require.
Possibly help with tree planting or nursery work.
Ability to work independently and unsupervised is a must.

I enjoy cooking and eat largely unprocessed vegetable-based food, trying to add kangaroo meat or chicken a few times a week.

    What else ...

There is a train here from Sydney once a day. Flights to and from Sydney and Brisbane. Buses north. Not a lot of public transport options. I'm usually able to pick up from the station etc.

    Can possibly accept pets

I have a dog, so any pets would need to get along with him. He's pretty friendly with most other dogs.

A house and yard are covered in fresh, thick snow. Trees and fence are frosted, with a car parked outside. Everything looks peaceful and wintry.
A small grassy front yard with overgrown plants, a wooden fence, and a parked silver car. Residential house and trees visible across the street under blue sky.
People are planting small trees in rows on a grassy field. Each sapling is protected by a white tube. The scene is outdoors, sunny, cooperative.
A sunny backyard with tall green trees, overgrown grass, a rotary clothesline, a small shed, and a yellow blanket or towel lying on the ground.
A neatly made bed with a pink pillow and quilt. Crocheted blanket, open closet with clothes, a fan, shoes, and a small shelf fill the cozy room.
A cozy bedroom with an unmade bed, colorful blanket, open closet with clothes, a fan, books on a bedside table, and sunlight streaming through patterned curtains.
A black and brown dog lays on a wooden deck in the sun. Greenery, a car, and a wooden fence are visible in the bright background.
Three black calves walk across a grassy farm paddock enclosed by metal fences. A person in jeans and hat stands near the gate under tall trees, watching.
Six friends are gathered on a couch, laughing and smiling. One person is lying horizontally across the others. The atmosphere is warm, joyful, and relaxed.
A koala is comfortably perched on the branch of a tall tree, surrounded by lush green leaves, with a clear blue sky in the background.
A vibrant green beetle with iridescent hues stands on weathered wood. Its large mandibles and legs are detailed, highlighting the beetle's unique, metallic appearance.
Five colorful rainbow lorikeets stand closely together on a flat surface. Their vibrant green, red, yellow, and blue feathers shine under a slightly cloudy sky.
A camouflaged lizard clings to the rough bark of a large tree trunk, blending seamlessly. Surrounding trees and blue sky form the background. Nature’s disguise.
A strange red fungus with tentacle-like arms emerges from the grass, surrounded by dry and green blades, resembling a sea creature on land. Unusual appearance.
