  Description

  We live on an old former farm by the sea, about 30 minutes drive from Tromsø in northern Norway, where we have spent the last 20 years with homesteading, fishing and the transformasjon from garden to park. Help us preserve the beautiful fjord through catching and using sea-urchins for food and ecological sustainable farming. We collect these creatures at the beach and also dive after them. They do not go deep, so we do not SCUBA-dive i order to catch them, but do freediving and snorkeling. The part used is the caviar, which i very expensive and exclusive, while we grind up the rest of the creature and make ecological fertiliser of them. I n this way we help re-establishing the seaweed-forest in this fjord. We provide dry-and wet-suits for those who want to participate, but there are a lot of other activities for those that do not like cold water!We have expertise in Sauna and ice-bathing and the host is a certified instructor in the Wim Hof method. We love the subarctic nature with midnight-sun in the summer and northern lights in wintertime. We offer quite and calm life on the country side, with easy access to one of the most popular areas for travel on top of the world, the area of Tromsoe, the Paris of the north. Workawayers will stay in their own rooms,with access to all facilities, like different kinds of sauna, cold plunges, fishing and kajakking. About us, we are a middle-aged couple with two grown-up sons, all four of us have full-time jobs, but the oldest 2 of us are working mostly from home-offices.
  Workawayers will have access to boats, kajakks, padle-boards, bicycles and possibly cars. Access to boats includes floating devices and wetsuits as sub-arctic sea is quite cold.

  We speak english and german fluent. Understand some italian and a little bit of french. Workawayers can learn more about subarctic gardening, fishing, diving, kajakking,building and maintenance. We are very interested in other cultures, including cooking, art, music, and above all, the art of living and sharing.

  Help

  Help will consist mostly of privat ecological small-scale-farming, gardening and more. Every task will be adapted to the workawayers level of experience. The host is a certified master of building and sharing of skills is important for us- hope it can go both ways. We do not run a farming or construction business.

  Accommodation

  We have one quite little cabin and one larger cabin close to the house. The little cabin is equipped with a double bed, electricity and wifi, the larger cabin has a second floor for sleeping, a sleeping sofa in the ground floor, electricity and cabled internett. Both cabins are very quite, close to the main-house and both have a spectacular view. Workawayers have access to our kitchen and 2 bathrooms.
  
  Normally the hosts are skipping breakfast, but breakfast is available for self-service in the kitchen. Lunch and dinner will be prepared and eaten together and we will be more than happy for input regarding workawayers own food-traditions. We are shopping groceries almost every day and workawayers can join if needed. We expect everyone to do their share in dishwashing and cleaning and that includes ourselves of course.

  House rules are simple: no drugs. No smoking. Behave like fellow human beings and everything will be fine. Transportation to town center by car or by bus, bus-stop is 200 meters away.

  Space for parking camper vans

  Campers cannot park directly nearby the house, too little space to turn, but we can provide a separate area 200 meters away. Motor-homes, small to medium size can park closer to the house, with direct access to electricity.
