Hi Edouard,
It has been our absolute pleasure having you here with us this november. You must be one of the most easy going and grounded people we've met. You have helped us in so many ways around the farm's projects - with your many skills! We have also fully enjoyed your company, good conversations, french "lessons" and pâtisserie. You are

Dear Marjo and Vincent,
Thank you so much for your lovely company this autumn, on our little farm in Askøy. You helped us with many long over due tasks, and we really appreciated all your hard work. We shared many meals and interesting conversations, and where also lucky to hear increadible music you played by the fire. And, I must also mention

We spent 2.5 weeks as guests of Marte and Ruben in Askoy.
We were welcomed with open arms, shyly greeted by the children, and enthusiastically welcomed by the dogs. What a beautiful beginning!
Ruben showed us to our own apartment on the ground floor, a cozy and comfortable space with all the amenities.
We really enjoyed having our own place,

The work was varied, fun, and manageable.
What did we do? We tidied up, organized the workshop and shed, gardened, took apart the chicken, turkey, and sheep pens, and spread all the animal droppings over 120 apple trees. It will be an amazing apple harvest next year! 😋😋😋
We painted the new furnitures Ruben made, cleaned and organized the kitchen, dismantled the pool and trampoline, and put them away.
Just before the storm.....
Some of the tasks had been on the to-do list for quite a while.
We were happy to help Marte and Ruben by crossing off those long-standing tasks.
With a young family, both working jobs, and two dogs, sometimes things get left undone—and that's totally understandable.
It was wonderful to be able to help each other in this way.
The surroundings are beautiful, with plenty of scenic walks in the area. You can swim in the sea, kayak, and fish.
We were lucky to witness spectacular northern lights. The entire sky was red and green. 😍 Amazing!
It's very easy to visit Bergen from Askoy. If you want to travel by ferry, there are several ferry options departing from Bergen.
Dear Ruben, Marte, Mathilda, Johannes, and Emil (hopefully we spelled all the names correctly?)—thank you so much for a wonderful time with you.
We enjoyed many delicious meals, eating bread, sausages, and pancakes outside by the campfire.
We had great conversations, shared experiences, and learned new things from each other.
It was a privilege to witness your family life up close and, of course, to cuddle with the ever-enthusiastic dogs.
We had a fantastic time with you and enjoyed every minute.
It was difficult for us to leave this place, especially because it also marked the end of six months in Norway.
Ruben and Marte asked if we could stay for a year. 😉
Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible; we had to return to the Netherlands.
But... perhaps we’ll meet again another time.

My stay at Marte and Ruben place has been amazing, not only are they great WorkAway hosts but also really good and friendly people who have helped me a great deal with my bigger Norwegian adventure. I must mention as well their three wonderful, social and funny children.
The tasks here are mainly related with their huge garden (which has a nice
… read more cozy spot to the sea with kayaks): cutting grass, moving trees, fix them so they grow straight, etc. That´s life in the farmhouse. Ruben is a handyman and a talented carpenter who may need some help from time to time so it´s also a great chance to learn and develop new skills with him. Here work is flexible and they have many cool projects which need some extra hands! You can also borrow some working clothes!
The food is delicious and abundant as Marte is a great chef, and accomodation is very comfortable with a fully equiped apartment for your own in the basement of the family house with everything you may need (plus more food!).
Last but not least, I must mention the two most wonderful little wolf-dogs ever Svein and Olaf, and also the farm rabbit! Their company has indeed enriched the overall experience!
Thank you for everything guys, it´s been truly a pleasure and hopefully we cross paths again somewhere in Vestland and I'll be your host and then you my guests! I wish you all the best!
Tusen takk og lykke til! :)Left by host for Workawayer (Ismael)

I have had such an amazing time staying with Marte and Ruben! The work in the garden has been super enjoyable. There was always something fun to do, from cutting grass to picking apples and making apple juice—the best in Askøy👀. I also got to spend time with their 3 wonderful kids. They are so sweet, caring and fun, and I truly loved playing with

Ruben and Marte made sure I could get the most out of my time with them. They prepared some amazing Norwegian food for me to try, and we also got to do some activities together—fishing, kayaking, swimming in the ocean and more! And of course, we also had some amazing chats!
Thank you so much for making my time in Norway so special. I can’t wait to visit again✈️Left by host for Workawayer (Lorenzo)
It has been fantastic having Lorenzo here with us. He has been a great help to us with gardening, harvesting apples, making apple juice and playing for hours on end with the children! We have enjoyed many conversations, cups of coffee and meals together. We will miss him greatly and welcome him back at anytime😊
