Description
We are Tessa (italian) and Jorge (belgian and cap-verdean), and we are launching a project on agroecology and ecotourism on the hills of Noto, Sicily. It's a wonderful place of 12 Ha, surrounded by nature, along a small wild canyon which offer several places for a refreshing bath. Our area is rich on archeological heritage and it's easy to find a byzantin cave or prehistoric burial. We have lived and worked for several years in Africa, South America and Azores, focusing on sustainable agriculture and ecotourism. We enjoy welcoming and meeting new people and sharing our life experiences.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are developing agro-eco-tourism activities, with a strong didactic dimension, in network with local farms. We can talk about agroecology, agroforestry, the threats of desertification in Sicily, and the ecosystem services beneficial to sustainable production and agri-food systems... and take concrete action on an endearing micro-territory. We invite you to explore local traditional festivals, food, dances with local groups... And we invite you to discover the long history of the region that has influenced the history of all Europe.
Help
We are seeking assistance for the environmental restoration activities, which involves developing a nursery for forest and agroforestry trees (diversification of seedlings, maintenance, etc.); planting trees in hedgerows and blocks according to an agroforestry layout plan; rehabilitating dry stone walls; creating paths on the property; undertaking small eco-constructions (kitchen, storage space, cabin, compost toilet, common places etc.) and renovation ; gardening, land cleaning and maintenance, ... .

Accommodation
Workawayers will stay with us in our house. A guest room is available and we have to share the bathroom. We are going to share our meals and a car can be made available occasionally.

Our region is beautiful and offers numerous good activities and discoveries. The Cava Grande reserve is a natural wonder where you can swim in crystalline freshwater natural pools. We are located 25 minutes away from the Vendicari reserve with its ornithological reserve and idyllic beaches. Photographers and nature enthusiasts will appreciate the diversity of landscapes and flora (depending on the seasons). The baroque cities of Noto, Syracuse, or Ragusa are nearby and offer all the services of a city. Our network of friends regularly organizes recreational activities such as barbecues, concerts, walks, ... and if you love food, you will adore the healthy and natural products produced in our region and in our farm. We would be happy to make you discover our beautiful region.
