Description

We're a multi-cultural family with 2 kids, a girl aged 12 and a boy aged 10 who are originally from Mexico and Croatia, but kids were born in Australia. Now living in Spain. Raising 3rd culture kids is never easy, would love to expose them to people from all over the world and keep learning languages. We speak English, Spanish and Croatian at home.

Help

We need someone who loves working and teaching kids to learn new stuff. Creative Play, outdoor play, arts, dance, crafts, etc to keep the kids busy at the times when parents are busy. We also have 2 cats and since we travel quite often we need help with Bubba and Tigra to feed them, cleaning their litter and play with them. When kids are at home they love to meet new people, learn facts and languages, so bring some creative ideas to play with them as well. If we're away, we expect you to take care of our house, the 2 pets and keep house in shape while we're away, and you enjoy Sitges!

I stayed with Louis' family for almost one month during august. It was my first experience trough workaway and I can say that it definetely exceed my expectations.

They made me feel welcomed and at ease since the first moment we met. Louis came to pick me and another girl form France at the station, then we went home were we had a barbecue with … read more all the family. The kids were very excited and happy to see us. I instantly understood that the family was super interesting and could teach me a lot, giving me many inputs. Louis is from Mexico and Meri is from Croatia, they lived in different places around the world and the kids were born in Sidney. They told us a lot of stories about their adventures and I felt enchanted listening to them. Living in their house was super cool because I felt like I was receiving a lot of stimulus from different cultures and languages, and that was exactly how I wanted my workaway experience to be like.

In the first days they showed us the beautiful city of Sitges and I quickly fell in love with it. There are different beaches and also the old town is very pretty.
Our work consisted basically on taking care of the kids, organising a schedule for every week. So we did different activities such as: going to the swimming pool, going at the beach with the sup, going for a bike ride along the beach, playing football, doing indoor climbing, staying at home doing some art and crafts or doing karaoke...
Sometimes we also did some activities with the whole family, like going to the cinema, going to the museum or joining some parties with the family friends on the beach. That was an opportunity to meet new people and expand our knowledge about different cultures and ways of living. We also went surfing and I loved it!
During the weekends we had free time and we went to visit some of the main cities of Catalonia, such as Barcelona and Tarragona. It was easy to travel from Sitges' station to the different destinations (Barcelona is just 40 mins far from Sitges by train).
Moreover, we have been lucky to be in Sitges for the fiesta major, so we had the opportunity to find out more about Spain's traditions.

I'll forever be grateful for this experience and I could recommend it to everyone who is curious to get to know new cultures and languages while exploring Catalonia. I hope to come back soon!
