    Description

We're an easy-going, energetic Hispanic-Canadian family of five living on Bowen Island. Our beautiful island is just a 25 minute ferry ride from Vancouver away and a perfect place for nature lover and outdoor fans!

Our home is surrounded by forests and the ocean with a quick access to the beach. We have rain, occasionally snow, and lots of sunshine in the summer. It's a very safe place for everyone.

I'm a mother of five but my two oldest children have already moved out. My husband Ken commutes between Vancouver and Bowen for work and is sometimes away on business trips. My two middle sons, Liam (12) and Dorian (10), are in school during the day and have several hobbies that require occasional rides. But I’m mainly looking for help with my youngest son, Damian. Damian is three years old and a very bright, social, and energetic child. He loves being outside or playing with his cars. He doesn’t attend daycare yet, which is why I need help looking after him during the day. Sometimes I also need help around the house (e.g. organizing, tidying, cleaning, cooking like exchanging recipes etc.). I like to do my garden in spring & summer but I always need a extra hand.(watering)

We have two dogs and five cats. All of our pets live outdoors, not inside the house. Our two dogs, Ares (a Husky) and Kissie (a German Shepherd), live in our spacious backyard. The cats are free to roam and are very independent.

Bowen offers events and activities for both children and adults. For adults, there's yoga, pottery, markets, and more. Our community center offers a wide variety of sports classes and fitness programs. There are many great beaches on the island that are always perfect for swimming and relaxing. For children, there's a family-friendly place for them to socialize with other kids, as well as parks, playgrounds, and beaches.

    Help

I need help or support with Damian and sometimes with family/house things. When we're away, we need someone to look after the pets (e.g. take the dogs for walks, feed the animals, and give them fresh water).

    Accommodation

We have a separate apartment from our house that includes a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living room. It has heating and a fireplace. It comes with a full set of dishes for your use. It has a wonderful view of the sea and the mountains. We can provide weekly meals or fruit, or we can also share lunch or dinner, sharing and exchanging recipes. It's a very safe and quiet place to sleep.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We have buses that run at specific times of the day, coordinated with the ferry schedule. Our home is about 25 minutes by car away from the Cove, our central place on the island with most of the shops and restaurants. We also have a car available for when we need to go out with our children or in case of an emergency. In your free time, you can look for other types of work on the island if you want, for example babysitting and supporting other families. You can also go to Vancouver, Vancouver Island or the Sunshine Coast to explore it. It depends on what you need or want to do.
