***** WE'RE LOOKING FOR HELP WITH THE OLIVE HARVEST LATE OCTOBER/ EARLY NOVEMBER 2026****

We are a small homestead in central Portugal, trying as much as possible to be self sufficient and learning as we go.
We have 70 olive trees, 4 prolific cherry trees, some citrus trees and about 10 other varieties of fruit trees. We try to grow most of our vegetables and also raise a few chickens for eggs (they also make a great pet!) and have 2 cats and a young dog who are great helpers ;-)
We also do a lot of other handyman projects such as simple woodwork projects, home renovation, old furniture restoration, and building things for the home and land. If you are a handy person we would love to hear from you!
Our home and land are located in a traditional Portuguese village in central Portugal, it's peaceful and beautiful here! We have woods, hiking trails and river beaches for swimming all in very close proximity.
We are a smoke-free home, thank you.

We ourselves also love to meet people from various cultures and backgrounds, we have traveled throughout our lives and would love to hear about your experiences and share ours.

  • Help

    Help

We will most likely take in help during olive (in the fall) and cherry harvest (in the spring) which will include harvesting the fruit, sorting through it, preserving it. With cherries its pitting, dehydrating, making vinegar, liquor, and more. And with olives it's preparing the olives for the oil making process and pickling them.
But we might take in helpers during other times of the year, we always have woodworking and home/land improvement projects going on, and during the spring time there's lots of work preparing the soil for planting, seed sowing and transplanting, weeding and more.
We will be glad to guide you through all the above, we expect you be curious and open to learning, and able to follow (simple) instructions.

Other activities to do in our area: during the warmer months there are many river beaches to enjoy in our area, and in the fall and winter there are lots of trails and woods you can hike and forage mushrooms.
    Other things to note:
We can only host adults, the stay is not suitable for children, sorry.
