    Description

We’re Anastasia (Greek) and Richard (Dutch) and in January 2023 we moved from Amsterdam to Crete, Greece. Living in the city was not fulfilling for us any longer and we felt the calling to move to nature and lead a more sustainable life. We bought some land on Crete, Greece and we are now in the process of building our light straw clay house. We aspire to create a tranquil space in nature, and provide a viable example of modern, simple, natural living.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

If you're seeking to learn new skills, then this is the place for you. You can learn how to build a natural house, gardening, planting trees, DIY projects, making a tiny house on wheels, you name it. As for cultural exchange opportunities, there are plenty of local events in the area (music, food, art) which we regularly attend. We'll be happy to show you around and get to mingle with our local friends.

    Help

We are looking for two volunteers to help us build our dream house on Crete. It's a light straw clay building with wooden frame. No previous knowledge, experience, or dexterity is required. All you need is to be strong enough to mix straw and clay, carry buckets, use the wheelbarrow, etc., and not be afraid to get dirty. If you're into natural building, it's a great way to gain more knowledge and skills.

    What else ...

We are a bit out of reach of public transport so you need a vehicle to be able to get around. There are plenty of beaches in the area round 15-30 minutes by car. The area also offers beautiful walking routes; walking through picturesque villages, visiting gorges, rivers etc.
