    Description

Hello! I am an artist, writer, and English teacher. After a recent journey traveling solo through 12 different countries, I have settled into a spacious, semi-off-grid sanctuary in Broad Bay on the stunning Otago Peninsula. I have an adorable little dog Jasmine and enjoy community activities and building creatively.

Inspired by Frida Kahlo’s fierce creative spirit, this property is at the beginning of being transformed into a living eco-art community. The house runs on rainwater, utilizes a composting toilet system, and features three separate living areas and two outdoor studios and two green houses. The energy here is organic, independent, sovereign, creative, and peaceful.

This space suits independent, travelers, artists, or anyone interested in creative projects such as permaculture, and sustainable living. We maintain a sober, and grounded environment. There is a poetic charm in the nature and surrenderings just waiting to be explored.

    Come and visit...come and stay!

Broad Bay is stunning and relaxed, there is easy access to Dunedin by bus ( I'm a 2min walk to bus stop which is right beside the sea) My house backs onto the edge of 'The Future Forest' a community orchid. A little drive takes you to stunning nearby beaches with stunning wildlife, and walking tracks.

I've just moved here but enjoy to connect with local groups e.g composting, fermentation, language groups ect. Currently I teach creative writing online and also practice yoga (I have 200h ytt) I also enjoy hanging out at the kitchen table drawing/art journaling or cooking delicious organic food. I love fermentation and anything nature inspired.

There is plenty to explore and do here!!

    Help

I am at the beginning of upgrading the property, cleaning out the property from wild vines to establish and grow a permaculture garden using a no dig method.

I am looking for motivated helpers (or pair of helpers) to pitch in for 10 to 15 hours per week (an easy 2 to 3 hours a day, 5 days a week). You will work alongside me most of the time, and the work changes depending on the weather and may include...

Clearing out outdoor studios and also clearing.

Building compost, moving soil, and planting garden boxes, planting trees, nursery crops ect. I'm planning on a wild flower garden.

I also have interest in yoga, and art/expressionist painting ect.

The house has multiple living zones, you will have plenty of space for privacy and quiet contemplation. You will have a comfortable, private bedroom to completely retreat, rest, and create. (its a loft room easy to heat) there is also a downstairs seating area.

Your welcome to camp here too! would be happy to negotiate that.

I prefer to host people for up to two weeks at a time, although a longer stay is negotiable if our energies align.

I'm not strictly vegetarian but prefer organic and locally sourced food networks. I have a basic set up kitchen. Because the hours are very light (10–15 hours a week), the food arrangement is negotiable. We can discuss sharing basic staples and cooking together, or you can manage your own groceries, depending on what suits us both.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

I usually live on my own and am a solid yet genuine type, have clear expectations and boundaries (which are not too demanding and agreed upon first) it is very likely you will be doing project work alongside me depending on what I'm working on. I also like your creative ideas to come to life too.

This is a semi-off-grid set up with rain water and composting toilet situation. In general this place is amazing, there is a walking track behind me which heads up to the Castel with panoramic views of the Otago Harbor cost line. In summer there are plenty of swimming and fishing spots around. During the weekend there are local classes you can attend at the community hall. There's heaps to do!

Yes, there is space here for a camper. Not sure about plugging into power. It can get a bit muddy on the driveway.
