Description
***SKILLED CARPENTER, MASON, MECHANIC OR VEGAN COOKING AFICIONADO WELCOME***
Workaway in a village house perfect as base camp for hikers and lovers of forests and lakes.
Discover the province of Dalsland, often called "Sweden in miniature", "Sweden's lake province" and even "the forgotten landscape".
Whether you are a walker, runner, cyclist, canoeist, kayaker, tree hugger, lake dipper, berry picker, mushroom gatherer, star gazer, bird spotter or even moose watcher, this workaway might be your getaway.
The region is very popular for hiking, bicycling and motorcycling. One of our neighbours is a an active motorcyclist, who is very happy to point out interesting routes. Gravel roads and trails run through the forests in every direction, and are magnificent for bicycling and hiking. Your discoveries will be endless, but surely you will find your favourite spots for tranquil moments.
The 180 km "Lelångenleden" bicycle trail from Uddevalla to Årjäng passes right by our house. The "Karl XII's väg" hiking trail from Forsebol to Halden in Norway also passes nearby, over the beautiful Kroppefjäll natural reserve.
We are environmentally conscious, middle-aged but youthfully minded people, curious of cultures and customs. We are pleased to welcome workawayers from any part of the world.
There are two houses on the plot. Summertime there is one for you, one for us. As your host we are right across the lawn, always available, never imposing. We will be working together or individually, and socializing as it falls naturally, always respectful of each others own time and tasks.
Wintertime we share the house which is comfortably heated by a central wood-fired boiler. You will learn how to light and maintain the fire.
There are various odd jobs in and around the houses on the plot.
The master plan is to convert the house to be self-sufficient with solar, wind and biomass energy, thus generating low emissions.
The location is very easy to reach by public transportation. The house is just a short walk from the bus terminal.
When we go anywhere by our car, you are always welcome to tag along on the ride, or we are happy to run your errands for you.
We aim to answer all requests for stays, and as soon as possible.Types of help and learning opportunities
