Description
We are a family of 5 - Andy, Lucy, Maya (14), Robin (7) & Pip (6). We have 2 dogs, Peanut & Buachaill, ponies (Charlie, Reggie & Cookie) and a very handsome Donkey (Flash William) all living together in a small homestead in Annamoe, Co Wicklow.
We really enjoy welcoming Workaways to our home. Workaways that we have had so far have been from a wide variety of countries across the world which has been a wonderful learning experience for our girls. We feel privileged to be in a position to give travellers a place to base themselves while experiencing life amongst an Irish family.
Our home and garden is a magic place to spend time. We have a hammock set up for lazy afternoon reading and bicycles for more energetic adventuring. We also have lots of yoga mats.
We are very much in the developing stages and this spring we are looking for help from strong, capable, practically minded folk to prepare the vegetable garden as well help with simple garden 'Summer preparation' like weeding, picking stones etc.
ONGOING PROJECTS
We are slowly developing raised vegetable beds with a focus on herbs, microgreens & leaf greens
Establishing fruit orchards
Maintaining flower beds, just for colour and joy
Constructing a tree house
FUTURE PLANS include:
A natural lake & possibly reed bed system
Planting hedges & coppice woods
TYPICAL DAY:
Usually the previous evening we have chatted about the needs of the day, discussed options and solutions & delegated tasks.
Our operation is on a small and manual scale, so no requirement to operate machinery.
Expected Hours are in line with standard Workaway practice. We understand that workawayers are travelling and want to experience as much of the Irish countryside and culture as possible and with this in mind, we are flexible with time.
LOCATION & AMENITIES:
We are lucky to be situated so conveniently between the mountains and the sea.
Annamoe is 10 mins from the stunning historical valley of Glendalough - possibly Ireland's most iconic visitors destination - and from here there are endless hiking trails into the hills.
Personal time activities might include hiking/cycling/horse riding in the mountains to Glendalough or over the Wicklow or Sally Gap.
Local towns, Laragh & Roundwood have great pubs many with live music at weekends.
Or visit the many galleries, museums, theatres, cafes, restaurants, bars & music venues in the city.
Use public transport for day trips along Ireland's Ancient East, the Hidden Heartlands or weekends along the Wild Atlantic Way.
We hope for enthusiastic people who are willing to get involved - pretty much all of the help will be outdoors so applicants need to be prepared for all weathers - don't forget to pack a rain jacket!
We feel that the position is best suited to a couple or a couple of friends. We look forward to meeting travellers from around the globe and involving them in our family.Types of help and learning opportunities

Workaways staying with us will be treated as part of the family. We all eat together in the evening giving us the chance to get to know each of the Workaways that comes to stay with us. We also respect personal space which is why we have the caravan accommodation.
