    Hello Workawayers!

We are Katie and Konrad, an English-German couple and proud parents to a baby boy. We live in the centre of Alaior, a charming town in the middle of Menorca. Having explored the world through Workaway experiences ourselves, we are excited to open our doors to fellow travellers.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I’m English, and my partner Konrad is German, and together we’ve travelled around the world, often as Workawayers ourselves. Our adventures have taken us from adopting baby goats in Egypt to cleaning sand out of a desert camp in Jordan, teaching in Nepal, and picking fruit in the Caribbean. These experiences not only gave us friends all over the world, but they also gave us a huge appreciation for cultural exchange, something we’re excited to share with you.

I think our favourite thing about our experience with Workaway is that you get to see the different ways people chose to live their lives from up close. This has taught us that there is no wrong or right way to live, but that everyone can make up their own rules.

We love sharing travel stories with our guests, but we’re just as passionate about showing people around our beautiful island. In return, we’re eager to learn about your culture, experiences, and skills. We hope to bring our baby up in a home where anyone can feel welcome and where an array of languages and cultures meet.

We do seem to love a project. No matter how much we say we're going to chill after "this project" or "that project", a new exciting one always seems to come and find us. We now have our next project and it's a big one: We are buying and moving into a 130 year old townhouse! So our never ending to do list just got even longer. We will need all kinds of help in the new place, whether in the garden, kitchen or just with general maintenance. Honestly, we have so many project ideas around the house that if you have any particular skills, I'm sure we could find some tasks that fit!

We welcome individuals or a duo who are versatile and willing to pitch in where needed.

Just to be clear, we have a baby, so you have to be comfortable sharing a space with a tiny human, but we are not looking for anybody to babysit or help with childcare. That's not to say he won't love you for reading him a story whilst we're getting dinner ready.

    Accommodation

You will have your own bedroom and access to shared spaces including kitchen, bathroom, and living areas. Depending on timing, we might be able to lend you a car for independent exploration, and there are convenient bus routes connecting you to nearby towns. We often go out sailing on the weekend and if it coincides with your visit, we're happy to take you with us.

We of course provide ingredients for all meals and generally we take it in turn with our workawayers to prepare said meals. We ourselves eat everything, but we're happy to adapt to a vegetarian diet if that better suits you. Let us know about any other dietary requirements in your message and we'll see what we can do.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Our home offers easy access to the island's local attractions, yet remains unspoiled by tourism. Whether you're interested in exploring historical sites, hiking trails, or simply soaking up the sun, there’s plenty on offer. Keep in mind that bus routes are limited throughout the Winter, but we'll do our best to help you see as much of the island as possible!

We think that 10-15 days is an ideal amount of time for an initial stay, allowing enough time to contribute meaningfully to our projects while also exploring our island on your down time. Depending on circumstances, we’d be open to a stay that’s longer if it feels right.

We are a non-smoking household and are strict with this rule, so please do not apply if you're a smoker.

At the moment, we get a huge amount of workaway requests and although I aim to reply to everyone as quickly as possible, it often takes a few days to a week to do so. Even if it's a "no", I will let you know. To help me understand your request a bit more, please copy and paste the next few questions into your message and let me know your answers:

    1) Why are you interested in our workaway?
    2) What experience do you have with volunteering or sharing living space?
    3) What did you search for on the workaway website that led to our profile?
    4) What skills do you have that you think could be useful for us?
    5) What dates are you interested in?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply!
