Help with my cat rescue project on the beautiful island of Vis, in Croatia

The island of Vis, in Croatia, is beautiful. It also has no vet, and the street cats need help.

I started a volunteer project last year to help the street cats. There's currently only one person (Francesca from New Zealand, who's 28) actively doing boots-on-the-ground work, and she needs help.

This is Francesca's workaway profile, if you'd like to meet her: workaway.info/en/workawayer/Francesca12

FOOD IS NOT INCLUDED, but you don't have to work more than 15 hours per week.

This request is for ONE PERSON ONLY and is best suited for a woman, because you'll be sharing a small room with Francesca. We would prefer a non-smoker with a calm temperament: someone who's conscious, self reliant, respectful and independent.

The actual work involves cleaning the spaces where we foster cats: these are not large spaces, but you'll definitely be cleaning cat litter and other random messes. You'll also need to administer eye drops and ointment, possibly other medications as well. Francesca is trained as a vet nurse so she can teach you what to do, but you MUST love cats and be enthusiastic about doing this kind of work. It's not glamorous, but we're helping save lives, and it's very rewarding.

A secondary part of the work would be helping Francesca catch cats as needed, as well as helping transport them to the ferry so they can go to the vet in Split. This involves walking across town (it's not that far) at around 5 in the morning carrying cats in transporters. This happens once or at most twice per week.

We'd love to find someone with experience in animal rescue, and references for the projects they've worked on, or organizations they've worked with. Just saying "I love cats" is not enough. If you've read this far and think you'd be a good fit, please reply with "I'm experienced" in the subject line.

There's no minimum stay, but we're going to be very selective looking for the right fit.

    -----------------------

The reviews you'll read below are for my summer workaways, "Help to tame my garden and stay off-grid on the beautiful island of Vis, Croatia." I've removed that info at the moment in order to find cat rescue help, but basically, I have a land project that happens for nine weeks each summer in June, July and the first week of August. I need lots of help for that, and no special skills are required. For 2020, it opens on Saturday, June 6th and closes on Saturday, August 8th. I love when people stay a long time, but there's a one week minimum. If you're interested in that, get in touch. I'll add full details in the spring.
