    Description

Hi my husband Jason and myself Anne are moving permanently to France In June, we have had a place in Rochechouart for over 20 years and it is our happy place.

We have a beautiful husky called winkie who will be moving with us. We are looking for someone or a couple of any age or sex, we are very open minded and inclusive. We would like you to help us with a few projects, must be fit and healthy as I’m a bit rubbish atm.

We are English speaking and speak a bit of French, we have cars, tractor, digger, quad bikes and 15 acres to roll around in including a wooded area. There’s plenty to do and a huge wooded country park less than a mile up the road for cycling, dog walking or just to get lost in. Local village 3 kms away and main town 10km away so in the middle of nowhere but on the edge of somewhere with 2 great neighbours one English one French.

There’s the perfect place to come and relax in after a goods days graft. I love to cook home cooked food and plan on starting a hydroponics growing area for our own food, eventually.

We love the peace and quiet, we have a pool and quiet places to relax in.

If you crave a quiet life this is going to be right up your street.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are happy to work with any nationality, we host a Ukrainian family in the uk and have really enjoyed having them stay with us. We love to learn different cultures and experimenting in the kitchen.
We have had a really interesting life, we’ve run 2 businesses and are now trustees of our old Roller skating rink business which we have now gained charity status for. We are professional ice hockey coaches and love to skate, cycle, swim, play tennis and walk our dog and meet new people.
Although Jason is 55 and I am 57 we are very young at heart and love having people of all ages in our lives, our coaching has kept us young. We have 2 sons aged 31 and 33 who both live in the Uk.

    Help

We have lots of projects on the go in our home and would love you to help us, having your input and ideas would be great. We want to turn a room into a party area for our friends to come and have fun. We love a bit of karaoke so if you like to sing you will love our way of life.

We have lots of fields to cut and fences to build so we can get another dog and create a bigger space for them to run around in.
We love working outside depending on the weather. If you love cutting grass we have tractors and cutters to play on and if you like digging holes we have a digger to help with that.

We are no experts at anything but with Google and 20 years of doing up an old farm house we will work anything out. We are fun to be around and like a good laugh, we have a big friend base and like to be involved with local events so bring your party hat, the summer is great fun in France. Live music, bbqs, fireworks, outside discos just a few kms away.

    Accommodation

We have 2 spare bedrooms and a snug all with double beds with good mattresses and a shared bathroom. All the comforts of home. All bedding provided. Washing machine available too.

We would love you to cook or help with cooking and if you cook you don’t wash up, if you don’t cook it’s time to wash dishes. We all muck in and work to our strengths or learn new skills together.

We love to eat outside when the weather is good and love to entertain. I look forward to sharing my kitchen and culinary skills and eating different food from different cultures, we love to experiment.

We eat healthily and use airfryers but it’s amazing what you can cook in a small space. We love to light an outside fire and cook and chat with friends.

All food will be provided even when we are not at home, the fridge and freezer will be well stocked and you can cook for yourself when necessary. we can provide packed lunches for outings and suggest lots of places to visit. You will be treated like one of the family. In exchange for a bit of help around the house and outside.

We will provide up to 3 meals a day, breakfast will be a help yourself kind of deal, lunch is usually bread and cheese salad kind of thing, nice and healthy and a good home cooked evening meal, there’s not a lot of takeaways and no home delivery here lol.

For this we would ask for your help for about 25 hours a week no more than 5 days a week. Some days we work longer days especially if it’s cooler and then have a long weekend 3 or 4 days going out or just relaxing by the pool. We rarely plan our weeks, just see how the day takes us.

    What else ...

You will need transport, bike, car if you want to explore the area, we are an hour from the dordogne, 2-3 hours from the coast and 2-3 hours from the mountains in central France so lots to do and visit in your free time.

We do have vehicles but do use them daily and would need to look into insurance etc.

We are very chilled people and like to play golf locally, we work hard but do like our time off too. Work life balance is really important to us. La vie en France ❤️

We have a dog but she can be quite noisey and bossy, this is because she is a husky and they like to be noisy, she loves other dogs but any other animal wouldn’t be suitable to get along with her.
