    Description

We are Michael and Vincenzo. We’re currently looking after an old historic house and revamping and renovating its large rambling and overgrown garden. We’re also looking to expand our spray free vege garden and flower farm. We’ve lots of plans but need some help to see them realised! Come visit us in rural Wairarapa. The area is secluded and peaceful and about 15 mins to the nearest town so you need to have your own transport. You’ll have your own private room in the upstairs of the historic home. The house is old and rustic but very charming. We are also happy to host campervans. This is a private residence and is not a business.

We love meeting new people and telling people about our part of the world and what there is to see and do in the local area. Michael grew up in NZ but lived overseas for a number of years and Vincenzo grew up in Sicily but chose NZ as home.

  • Help

    Help

We’re looking for help to clear and look after the garden including creating new planting areas. This may involve cutting down invasive trees, clearing invasive weeds, digging garden beds, planting native trees etc. But we’re open to other offers of help depending on your skills. The historic homestead is in need of some TLC so carpentry skills, painting, cleaning, clearing etc is also welcomed.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You’ll have your own bedroom and own use of bathroom. This is a large old historic house that has had minimal modernisations and so expect original and authentic vibes. We are happy to cook (we cook mainly vegetarian and vegan) but occasionally fish and chicken dishes. Expect a good authentic pasta! Depending on the season we hope to cook with spray free home produce. You are welcome to cook as well.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

You will need your own car or other transport as this is a rural property. Featherston, Greytown and Martinborough are all within about 20mins drive. Michael works from home most days so is about to answer questions, provide direction etc. There are walks in the wetlands nearby, and the wild south coast is 20 minute’s drive. We are also in a dark sky reserve so stargazing is spectacular.
