Description
We have a beautiful, comfortable, REFINED and SOPHISTICATED country house and large garden with pool in the hills near the village of Sintra, Portugal.
We are eager to host INTELLIGENT, HIGHLY COMPETENT, agreeable people with GOOD MANNERS, who can work well independently. And who know how to behave politely as a guest in someone's home. YOU MUST BE A NEAT, TIDY, ORGANIZED PERSON...IF NOT, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU!!!
We live a LONGEVITY LIFESTYLE: organic food, yoga, holistic health and alternative healing etc, and prefer guests who are familiar with this way of living too, or are open to learning!
It is quiet, but in a GREAT LOCATION, half an hour from Lisbon by train, 15 minutes from popular seaside town of Cascais, and not far from several gorgeous beaches northwest of Sintra. (We have two CATS, who are in and out of the house.)
We are asking a MINIMUM STAY OF AT LEAST 2 WEEKS. but a longer stay could be an option, if it works for both sides!
SPEAKING GOOD ENGLISH IS A REQUIREMENT.

English spoken primarily, with some Portuguese, so you will have the opportunity to brush up on both of these languages.
Host was born in Portugal, and knows the Lisbon/Linha area well, and loves to share country’s beauty and fascinating history. Workawayers will earn about holistic living, natural health, nutrition, how to maintain a yard/garden, all in a beautiful, peaceful setting.
The study of natural healing and nutrition has been developing for years now, so you will learn a lot, just by observing and listening, and hopefully develop some good habits for a longevity lifestyle along with us!
Help
Seeking interesting, forward-thinking energetic Workawayers ( at this time, we are not able to host couples or people with children!) interested in helping around the place generally: light housekeeping, cleaning and organizing, interior/exterior PAINTING projects, maintaining and improving the yard, starting to PLANT AN ORGANIC GARDEN is on our to-do list this Spring. Express your creativity, artists welcome!
IMPORTANT: YOU MUST BE A TIDY, CLEAN, ORGANIZED, CONSCIENTIOUS person who puts things back in their place, keeps their own spaces neat (bedroom, bathroom, fridge and kitchen cabinets), completes tasks, and be willing to keep the house/yard in excellent condition, and running smoothly on a daily basis.
Your required work hours will usually take place in the mornings, from 9-12, but possible to be flexible, if either side needs a later time in the day, when things come up.

Accommodation
Your own bedroom in a 4 bedroom , 2 .5 bathroom home. You may be sharing your bathroom with another person. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 8am. NO SMOKING!
We have a large American- style kitchen, large, light-filled living room with cozy fireplace, and ample dining room, overlooking nice big pool to swim in during summer months, and several different patio/yard areas with lounge chairs and outdoor dining area with breathtaking views of Sintra mountain.
Workawayers will be responsible for buying their own food. Organic natural foods co-op store nearby. We're happy to provide transport weekly to various markets/villages to stock up. There is a large kitchen with all modern conveniences you are welcome to use, and there will be a barbeque in the yard in summer months. Portugal is known for its great grilled fish!
What else ...
Plenty of culture nearby - beautiful historical monuments and museums, and gorgeous beaches and mountain hiking just minutes from the house …It's a 5 minute walk to the bus line, train and bus stations 10 minutes away by car in Sintra village; inexpensive Uber is also available here. Hosts are always willing to give rides into Cascais, Sintra or local beaches when convenient!
