    Description

We are a family who run a seasonal artist’s creative hub with live in residencies based on a 20 acre small holding in West Cork. We are an organic homestead and are currently only producing food for our own consumption. We are still in our infancy and building a project that will hopefully help a lot of people in the years to come. We are in the early stages of implementing a permaculture design on the land and are also interested in looking into Biodynamic and syntropic agriculture. There are two people living fulltime at the house and we have a newborn baby and a four year old, with some artists coming and going over the summer season. We also have two cats and eight chickens. We love to learn from and grow with workawayers who come and provide a nice experience for everyone who comes to stay with us. Its great to meet people from other cultures and learn about where they are from and share stories.

The homestead project to date has been planting of native Irish forests, experimenting with planting of flowers for harvest (chamomile, calendula and hemp), establishing an orchard and fruit bushes, setting up a kitchen garden and polytunnel, biodiversity habitat creation and nature restoration. There have also been eco building projects using as many salvaged materials as possible and lime and hemp.

The property contains a river and lakes, as well as wild and rewilded areas. We have also built some natural earthen structures and land art to sit in and zone out from the world outside. There are many nice walks in the local area and West Cork is full of beautiful scenery, towns, villages and outdoor adventures to keep you busy.

Our internet connection is from personal phones, so you would need your own phone with hotspot and data. The speed is low, but it does work for accessing emails and browsing the web. I guess it all depends on what work you are doing and how fast a connection you need. We can also provide a hotspot to check emails and keep in contact with the outside world :)
