    Description

We’re looking for happy, friendly, practical, and mature-minded hands-on helpers (one or two singles, or a couple) to join us on our beautiful 15-acre hobby farm beside the Huon River.

The work can be quite physical, so it’s best suited to people who are comfortable using basic tools and enjoy outdoor work. Tasks may include weeding, mowing, whipper-snipping, and some painting (both interior and exterior).

We’re Ali and Paul, an active and welcoming couple in our 60s who love our self-sufficient lifestyle — growing veggies, keeping chooks, and sharing our days with our cheeky pooch, Janet.

In return, we offer very comfortable, self-contained accommodation with Wi-Fi, Netflix, and kitchen staples provided. Depending on agreed work hours, some meals can be included, or you’re welcome to self-cater.

We’re located about 15 minutes’ drive from Huonville (with a bus service from Hobart), and we’re happy to collect you on arrival. As we live in a fairly remote location with no nearby public transport, having your own vehicle is essential if you’d like to explore the area.

A reasonable level of English and a good sense of initiative are important, as you’ll need to follow instructions and work independently at times.

If you’re reliable, capable, and enjoy practical outdoor work in a peaceful rural setting, we’d love to hear from you.

    Ali & Paul 😊

We love to share the wonderful life we have in this beautiful part of the world and striving to live a full and happy self sufficient lifestyle. Paul is very handy and has a great workshop. He enjoys helping and mentoring anyone who is interested in learning how to use tools etc. when I have time I like to share my love of cooking, preserving, bread making and working in the garden.

    Help

We would love a couple of strong and capable workers with some degree of manual skills to help with building, fencing, and using general hand tools.
*Unfortunately we only speak English, so we prefer Workaways to be able to comprehend and communicate enough English so you understand instructions of jobs to be completed. Your English doesn’t have to be perfect, just enough 😊

The above skills are preferred, but we also welcome those who show initiative, have a good work ethic, and a healthy CAN DO attitude.
There are many jobs that we need help with.
    Fixing fences
    Digging
    Weeding
    Watering vegetables
    Planting
    Harvesting
    Brush cutting
    Mowing
Help with building projects and the list goes on.

Staying with us for 1–2 weeks can be a really rewarding experience and a lovely way to enjoy this part of Tasmania.

As we are in a rural area, there is no public transport directly to the property. However, on your days off …and whenever we are heading into Huonville, we’re happy to drop you off where you can connect with bus services to Hobart and other parts of Tasmania.

Having your own transport is a bonus but not essential.
Please note that we are a 15 minute drive from Huonville.

If you hold a current driver’s licence and are over 25, you may also be able to borrow our car occasionally, by arrangement.
