Description
Workaway in South Tasmania - after 15th November, December (and maybe beyond)
We’re looking for practical, mature minded hands-on helpers (one or two singles or a couple) to join us on our beautiful 15 acre hobby farm beside the Huon River.
The work can be quite physical, so best suited to people with some experience using tools or doing outdoor jobs. Tasks include mowing, whipper-snipping, painting (interior and exterior), general maintenance, and in December, helping lift and stack approx 400 (15 kg) hay bales from our paddocks.
We’re Ali and Paul, an active, friendly couple in our 60s who love our self sufficient lifestyle..veggies, chooks, and our cheeky dog named Janet.
We offer very comfortable self-contained accommodation, Wi-Fi, Netflix, and kitchen staples. Depending on work hours, meals can be provided or self-catered.
We’re 15 minutes from Huonville (bus from Hobart available), and happy to pick you up.
A reasonable level of English and initiative are important so you can follow instructions and work independently when needed.
If you’re reliable, capable, and enjoy practical outdoor work, we’d love to hear from you.

We love to share the wonderful life we have in this beautiful part of the world and striving to live a full and happy self sufficient lifestyle. Paul is very handy and has a great workshop. He enjoys helping and mentoring anyone who is interested in learning how to use tools etc. when I have time I like to share my love of cooking, preserving, bread making and working in the garden.

Help
We would love a couple of strong and capable workers with some degree of manual skills to help with building, fencing, and using general hand tools.
*Unfortunately we only speak English, so we prefer Workaways to be able to comprehend and communicate enough English so you understand instructions of jobs to be completed. Your English doesn’t have to be perfect, just enough 😊
The above skills are preferred, but we also welcome those who show initiative, have a good work ethic, and a healthy CAN DO attitude.
There are many jobs that we need help with.
Fixing fences
Digging
Weeding
Watering vegetables
Planting
Harvesting
Brush cutting
Mowing
Help with building projects and the list goes on.
