Description
We are a couple who recently started a new life project on a small farm in Spain.
Our land includes
- a mandarin orchard, which we would like to gradually transform into a more natural and diverse system inspired by syntropic farming and permaculture.
- old buildings in need of simple tasks, like cleaning up.
- vegetable garden, which is in development stage
We are both practical and used to working with our hands, but as you can imagine, with just the two of us there is always plenty to do — so an extra pair of hands (or more) is very welcome :)
We enjoy meeting people from different cultures and have hosted many international helper guests in our previous life in the Netherlands. We are happy to continue that here in Spain.
IF YOU CAN HELP US PRACTICE AND LEARN TO SPEAK BETTER SPANISH, THAT WOULD BE GREAT!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We live in a rural area, just outside the friendly coastal town of Vinaròs (about 4–5 km from the beach and boulevard). It’s a relaxed and authentic Spanish environment.
In your free time, you can:
- go to the beach or explore the coastline (with watersports)
- visit the well-known town of Peñíscola (about 25 minutes away)
- explore the mountains and nature inland
- go cycling (bicycles are available)
- enjoy local markets, culture and food
- explore by train (Vinaros has a train station), f.e. to Barcelona. Valencia, Alicante
- explore by bus
- simple bicycles are available to go to town or the beach.
We speak English, Dutch, German, basic French and beginner Spanish, so there is plenty of opportunity for cultural exchange and language practice.
Help
Our project is still in an early stage. We do everything ourselves and appreciate help with our day-to-day activities.
For the summer of 2026 the focus will be on
- learning and practicing Spanish (please help us with that ;) )
- cleaning up land and farm buildings
- checking the irrigation system in the orchard
- weeding
- helping with practical daily tasks, etc.
We usually do tasks 5 days a week, in the morning (around 8:00–13:00). Afternoons and weekends are free.

We really need some structural help with learning and practice Spanish! If you like we can in return speak English, German or Dutch with you.
Accommodation
A comfortable glamping tent is available for you in the olive orchard (with two sleeping cabins (2x2p) and a small terrace with table and chairs). There is a separate toilet and shower building. (Open fire is not allowed.)
You can use the washing machine.
For breakfast and dinner, ingredients will be available (such as bread, cheese, marmalade, charcuterie, milk, yogurt and eggs), which you can prepare yourself. Lunch is usually a shared warm meal with vegetables, meat/fish/poultry and potatoes, rice or pasta. (We are not able to accommodate any special or restrictive diets.)
What else ...
Important:
- We cannot host children/families
- Strictly no smoking and no drugs, only moderate use of alcohol
- We can host helpers from mid July till mid August 2026
