    Description

We are Jodi and Michael, with three adult children in their 20s who come and go so may or may not be here when you are! We also have an energetic dog Mika who loves playing.

Travel is an important part of our life and work - Michael still works overseas for several months a year, Jodi spent 10 years travelling to the Pacific Islands for work. We have been to many countries and love to see how other people live and equally enjoy learning about different perspectives. We love showing others the beautiful part of Australia where we live. The Hawkesbury river plays an important part in Australian history.

Dangar Island promises relaxation, great views, river swimming, kayaking and early morning bird song. Getting here requires a ferry ride as it's a boat access only island. About an hour from central Sydney on an easy train ride, the ferry will transport you 15 minutes across the river to a small island which 250 people call home.

We are happy to share dinner and chat about your travels, life and interests. Weather dependant we can also show you around the river in our little motorboat - a great experience taking you to boat access only areas on the river, little beaches and small waterfalls, there are even some Aboriginal carvings only seen by boat. Any help navigating/understanding Sydney and surrounds we are happy to provide and can give you some great suggestions for bushwalks on your days off. The community is small and there is a small cafe and a bowling club where you can meet locals. There are often community events that you are welcome to join in.

    Help

We have a large garden that we always love help with. Other tasks may include light painting, cleaning, gardening - weeding, planting, mowing. Any handyman experience would be great as there is often something to fix, update, maintain. As we live on an island getting help in these areas is sometimes difficult. Mostly we love hosting and sharing our island home.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

This workaway property is boat access only, there is a ferry that meets the trains taking you to Sydney or further north about once an hour. Sydney is an hour on the train and easy to navigate. Exploring Sydney is easy, however the ferry runs from 6am to 8pm so going out at night is not an option (although there is a water taxi you would have to arrange in advance).

There are some great bushwalks around for your days off, or kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming, fishing, campfire are all available out your front door! We have the equipment you are welcome to borrow.

We don't mind if you smoke, however not inside our main house or your cabin.
