    Description

We are two artists on a creative compound in a small coastal town in British Columbia. We work across ceramics, sculpture, music, and performance.
We are currently in production on a traveling multimedia experience. It combines original music, handmade slides, sculptural stage elements, projection, lighting, and costuming. Think lo-fi theatre meets art installation meets live concert. Everything is handmade. Everything is original.
We are looking for an art assistant. Someone self-starting, experienced, and passionate about making things. Not someone who needs to be managed or told what to do next. Someone who sees what needs doing and does it well.
The day usually starts with about an hour of light outdoor property work to clear the head and get moving. After that, the real work begins.

    Skills We Can Use

    Any combination of the following:
Theatre production, stage management, or lighting design.
Video shooting or editing (Final Cut Pro, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve).
Music transcription, arrangement, or live performance.
    Sculpture, ceramics, or mold making.
    Costume construction or textile work.
Set building, prop fabrication, or scenic painting.
Sound design or live audio setup.

    What You Get

A unique creative experience you will not find on any other Workaway listing. Hands-on involvement in an ambitious independent production. A beautiful coastal setting with access to kayaking, canoeing, and outdoor life. A ceramics studio and workshop space. Two experienced hosts who know what they are doing and will treat you well.

    What We Need From You

Show up on time. Be self-directed. Take direction without needing to steer. This project has a clear vision. We are not looking for collaborators or co-creators. We need skilled, reliable hands that can help us bring it to life.
If you have experience in any of the areas listed above and you are excited by the idea of helping build something strange, beautiful, and portable, reach out.

We will share more details about the project once we have connected and there is mutual trust.

Happy to train. We might be able to go out on the water or up in the mountains with you, if time allows and weather.

  • Help

    Help

The day starts with about one hour of light outdoor property work. Tidying, gardening, moving materials, basic maintenance. Nothing too heavy, just enough to get the body moving and the head clear.
After that, the real work begins. We are in production on a touring multimedia performance piece and need hands-on help with any combination of: theatre production, lighting, video shooting or editing, music transcription and arrangement, sculpture and ceramics, costume construction, set building, or sound design.

We are looking for someone who is self-starting, skilled, and passionate about making things. This is a creative production role, not a yard work position."
That's honest, filters for the right person, and doesn't bury the interesting stuff under a pile of digging and gardening.
