    Description

Hello, we are Florian and Minette! We live on a 137 acre rural hobby farm in Horsefly, British Columbia raising our three kids. We are an electrician and nurse by trade that have found an appreciation for growing and raising our own food. We raise cattle, pigs, have three dogs, three cats, and laying chickens. We appreciate the land and spend time to maintain a regenerative ecosystem as much as possible.

Horsefly is a surrounded by beautiful mountains and wilderness. Come explore with a swim in the river, dip in the beautiful lake, hike the mountains, ride quads and dirt bikes, wildlife viewing, or check out the local waterfalls. We are always up for an adventure and love to show our Workawayers the area and have them join activities with us and become part of the family!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Florian was born in Switzerland and moved to Canada as a child. He is fluent in English, Swiss German/German. His parents and two sisters families also live near us so they speak Swiss German together often, but we can also help anyone with their English. With our large extended family here there is always something going on that one can join in on and have fun. We can learn about each others culture/language and teach you about rural life in Canada. We love meeting new people and learning about their family/lifestyle/culture.

While at our home, learn about regenerative farming, soil health and gardening in a northern climate. We chose to raise certain animals for meat for our own consumption, no produce is being sold to the public.

We take pride in knowing where our meat comes from while giving them the best life possible. Enjoying children is a must as our kids are always involved in our daily routine and farm.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Horsefly is a remote community in the center of British Columbia. It is a perfect place to explore for any outdoor enthusiast. Surrounded by rivers, lakes, waterfalls, and mountains. Hike the local mountains, swim/fish in the lakes and river. Our town has a local cafe, small convenience store, a gas station, and a small library, and a weekly small farmers market. We get most of our supplies from Williams Lake, which is about 50 minutes (70kms) from our home which also has the closest airport. Horsefly has no public transit, but access to a vehicle can be discussed.
