    Description

Hey! This is Cat and Col! We are crazy about connecting with Nature, connecting and sharing with people and travelling.

Travelling has always been our main mantra, we travelled with our family by bus, boat, bicycles. Now our family has grown, we go off travelling more often by bicycles. We love doggies and Trixie, our chihuahua has been travelling with us for 12 years.

We love sharing adventures, cultures, philosophy, sharing food, picking mushrooms. Now we are creating a personal art project on our land in the Pacific Northwest of British Columbia Canada. We live off-grid in the beautiful Nass Valley near the communities of the Nisga’a people. Wildlife is abundant here with wolves howling, bears and all the magical creatures you can imagine. Lots of mushrooms to pick around here. Our vision is to create a community space, create connection between people and allow art to flourish in a natural setting, support people to connect to Nature, themselves, between each other. A space where people can share ideas, listen to each other.

4 years ago, we found this land as a clearcut with serious damage done, massive amount of logging debris. We are restoring the land slowly slowly, mostly just Colin and I; now this being our 5th year here, the land is healing, trees are growing again. We like building natural constructions with recycled materials. Right now, we are building a sacred space/ temple/ ceremonial space for our vision for community sharing. This building has a reciprocal construction and green living roof. We are using recycled materials and natural materials such as cob, green roof. We need help with building the walls out of wood rounds&cob.

This summer, we also want to build an outside kitchen, a shared covered space; new compost toilets, clay oven, gardening, tree planting. We invite people to join us in being creative, help us with alternative buildings, or even come and use your creative flair to build your own project of natural materials, plant trees, landscape, garden.

This is an exchange experience, Workaway travellers will have a cultural exchange and will not be working for a business or taking part of business work. Freedom is here; lots of nature to walk to, mountains to hike, Nisga’a villages to visit, lava beds to check out, check the salmons in the rivers, visit the hotsprings, meditate, be creative or spend time with Trixie. We welcome families, couples, all genders, ages, doggies.
