Sarah and Lukas came to Galiano Island to help us with our garden, but this talented couple were so enthusiastic and organized ended up helping us with so much more. Galiano Island was our home for just over ten days and we can definitely say that it is a beautiful, unique and relaxing place.

Brenda and Frits were very generous, also in terms of working hours. We really enjoyed working in the garden and were able to realise many great projects there. We also stocked up on wood for the winter.
They wanted us to explore the island in all its diversity and even provided us with a car. So we were able to hike up Mount Galiano, marvel at the impressive sunsets at Montague Park, watch the huge ferries at Bellhouse Park heading for Vancouver Island, visit the Hummingbird Pub, the farmers' market and the soup and bread event, take part in a yoga lesson at North Galiano Hall and even go kayaking.
We had plenty of free time and enough privacy in the separate cottage, where we enjoyed evenings in front of the fire and with a unique view.
At the end of our stay, we were able to travel back to Vancouver with Brenda, Frits and Skipper by ferry and car, as the Thanksgiving weekend was just around the corner. Frits even gave us a fantastic two-hour tour of Vancouver and the surrounding area afterwards.
Many thanks to both of you and Skipper for a great time!

My girlfriend and I had only been in Canada a week when we arrived on Galiano Island to Workaway with Brenda and Fritz. We stayed in Brenda and Fritz beautiful

During our stay, we worked independently for a few days clearing a portion of the 7 acres of woodland in preparation for landscaping. This meant moving a lot of wood up a steep incline. Luckily, we were provided with an ATV to help move heavy pieces to the top off the hill. I was equipped with power tools to help cut the wood which we neatly stacked. We also tended to the garbed and flowers that a local florist was preparing for a wedding. Brenda, Fritz and Galiano island will forever have a place in our hearts. We would recommend this workaway to anyone!

The project required a lot of heavy lifting and the ability to work independently. They caught on quickly to the task with the help of our ATV and small trailer they cleaned up the area in no time. It was amazing! Me and Sascha (I met him just on the beginning of our workaway) stood there for 10 Days and we had a great time. We stood together in the nice and cozy cottage - there are 2 sleeping rooms and one living room. Also a balcony with a wonderful Sea view.
Here something I wish, somebody had told me before: if Brenda ask you, what you

The Work: I helped Frits to get there Boat in shape for this summer, till Sascha arrived, three days later. Our main tasks were: getting rid off wild Broom and collecting and stashing cutted wood. We worked 4-5 h per day, 3 days in a row, with one day off after. It was a hard and physical work, but the stay worth it and we both were really proud, what we just did at the ending - try to enjoy the workout 😉. But I promise, there will be enough time to enjoy the island every day. We had a lot of little adventures on Galiano island and even other gulf islands. There is a lot to see on Galiano and I'm pretty sure, you'll never get bored!
Enjoy your Stay! 😊
We stayed with Brenda, Frits and Skipper for 10 days in June 24. We enjoyed an amazing time there. The cottage where we stayed had a beautiful view over the ocean and was really cozy. We worked 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week and that work was mostly picking broom (an invasive plant that needs to be taken out) and moving wood (they are about to do a renovation to the house and cut some trees that had to be moved afterwards). In general it was hard work, but with the best view imaginable and exactly what we were looking for. And it made the free time all the more rewarding when you get to enjoy the scenery... Brenda and Frits are very nice, we had some interesting talks and felt very welcome. I would definitely go back if they need help again!
Thank you so much for having us!
Lisa and Michel, great couple! Hard working, friendly, outgoing and independent.

I stayed a Workawayer with Brenda and Frits on Galiano Island from early December for two weeks. It was personally one of the most beautiful stays in my year in Canada. We had a great time with Brenda, Frits and Skipper on Galiano! Brenda took really good care of us, even before our arrival. As they live on an island, we had a few exchanges pre-arrival about our diet and what kind of supplies we would need for our stay. It was really sweet and everything was perfect. The little cottage in which we stayed in was

Frits told us not to worry about and took us for a tour around the island, showing us where the little shops where and where the treks started. Two kayaks where also available and the marine wildlife on this part of the island was amazing!
Workwise, we helped cutting and restocking wood, we cleaned part of their land from dead branches and logs, we took care of wintering the plants, and reorganized the garden once the snow had melted!
We had great conversation and exchanges about culture, food, travel, etc.
We 100% recommend sharing this experience with Brenda, Frits and Skipper on Galiano.

Brenda, Frits and Skipper managed to let us have the best possible February on Galiano Island.
