I just left today, after spending two wonderful weeks with the family.
I really enjoyed my time with them and there are lots of things that I’m missing already!
The view from my window, the pier, the walks through the most beautiful scenery, the salad from the garden and Patrick’s homemade chips for dinner, Liam’s stories about Lego and everything
… read more else he’s so passionate about, Jack’s love for tractors and comments about veganism (he’s not a fan, but he’ll make vegan banana bread anyways, cause he’s just that kind of guy, even if he might not like to admit it) and the dogs Toffee and Ollie - one small and cuddly, one energetic and a bit crazy - both very lovable!
I will miss strolling through Bantry and sitting down by the water to watch the waves and the seagulls.
I never thought I’d say this, but I will actually miss cleaning bathrooms and tidying up (to prepare the rooms for the B&B) as well as emptying and filling the dishwasher during the day and in the evening. I’ll miss the conversations about anything and everything, philosophizing and joking together, I’ll miss watching Gaelic Football and having tea together.
Marie, Patrick, Liam, Jack, Fiona and Rosie will always make sure that you’ll have a great stay. They were very accommodating with my vegan diet, they made me feel comfortable, made sure I got to see all the interesting places around and gave me lifts whenever I needed them.
The work is nice and not too hard and I had lots of free time to take walks, explore or just relax.
Overall I had a really great stay and found a home for the two weeks. I am so grateful for everything and can only recommend staying with them <3You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

There is so much to say about this lovely family and I totally agree to the other Workawayers who have spend some time here. I spend two month with them and I am so happy that I did it. For me it was definitely the best experience I could wish for.
As the other Workawayers said you will have your own room with a really nice view and your own

Most of the time Marie and Patrick cooked for all of us in the evening and at lunch you are flexible in what you would like to eat. There are vegetarian options as well if you prefer that.
Yes they are a busy family but definitely in a good and normal way and I never felt alone or excluded. I got the generous invitation to be a part at two special (family) events which i think was a big gesture. Furthermore during my stay I met three other workawayers and we explored the area after “work”. The task were not difficult or heavy physical work. Marie always explained clearly what I should do and offered a lot of freedom. For me it never really felt like working. I did household chores, a little bit of gradening, painting, fed the cat and dog and helped Marie to prepare for the place (which I would really recommend!). And while other Workawayers stayed here as well we split the task or helped each other out.
Bantry is a really nice area and town of Ireland. You can explore very beautiful places there and Marie and Patrick are great guides with a lot of knowledge and are willing to drop you of in different areas.
I really miss the time there and would highly recommend to apply for doing Workaway here. Thank you so much for everything and see you :-)

I came "just for the craic" not really knowing what to expect, and I left after seven weeks that have passed far too quickly!

My work was simple, straight forward and really not too much. My tasks were always clear and I had lots of freedom arranging them in a way it suits me. Basically, I was just tidying up and cleaning the house most of the time, but I could also spend some time cooking, baking or walking Toffee (best doggy! :)) if I felt like doing it. I helped a tiny bit with the homework as well, but that was really not much of an effort and always very nice for me. :) And finally, there was a special project going on which gave me the opportunity to do some indoors painting :)
In my free time, I enjoyed the picturesque nature: There are some beautiful walks and hikes close to the house, and the sea is not very far, either :) Apart from that, Marie and Patrick would make sure that I see some other places further away and just take me along when they went somewhere :)
So let me once again say thank you sooo much to all of you!!! I really had a great, unforgettable time and hope to see you again...you're all grand in your own way, lads :)
