This position is best suited to a couples (or pairs) but single, responsible, travellers are also welcome to contact us. We love having helpers on the property and providing a safe, clean, comfortable landing spot for them to call home as they explore all that Revelstoke (and the surrounding area) has to offer. Admittedly, we are a little reclusive, so the work/stay position is best suited to those who are comfortable with an independent living environment ... and an occasional lunch or dinner out.
35ft self contained living unit. Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom (1Queen and 1 Twin Bed), on our 2 acre treed lot. There is a LOT of privacy and this is not a communal living situation so the ideal helper would be someone content with being relatively on their own.
Ideally our workaway helper would have their own car....or plans to purchase a car in Revelstoke. We are located 4km from town with no scheduled public transportation to and from.
In their time off helpers enjoy the plethora of outdoor outdoor activities available in Revelstoke. Downhill biking, hiking, fishing, farmers markets, foraging, rock-climbing, ... and there are plenty of waterfalls, lake, rivers and hot-springs in our area.
For winter: The ski resort is about 10 minute drive. The mountain is steep and the snow is deep.
There are groomed x-country ski trails & snowshoe trails. Revelstoke is the quintessential small Canadian Ski Resort town. There are cafes and pubs, fancy restaurants and shopping. A great sushi house, bowling, ice-hockey, skating and natural hot-springs (worth the day trip).
We are a quiet couple in our 40's (no children) 2 dogs. Christiane works from home making sure the guests are happy, oversees cleaning and keeps the house running smoothly.
Lorne is a Back-Country snowmobile guide.
We work hard, enjoy the out-doors, eat healthy and go to bed early at night. The Guest House is a happy house, the stress minimal….people who are on ski vacations tend to be happy people and we are also that way. Ideally our helper would be someone who is positive, can move quickly on house cleaning days, loves dogs, loves the snow and values privacy.
The neighbourhood is safe. We know all of our neighbours personally. Although a car is required to get to town, there is a restaurant/pub in the lodge across from us (and pizza delivery from town) if you don't feel like cooking.
