Description
We only consider female applicants, sorry, and childcare experience highly valued. We have a new baby and would love to find someone who can stay for the next week or two. We can only currently host until December 28.
Family Home in Birkenhead, Auckland. Only a 15-minute bus ride into the city (and only a 5 minute walk to the bus stop), we are very conveniently located to get to know Auckland. There are beaches in all a directions and lots of shops only a 5 minute walk away.
We are 3 generations living under 1 roof. We live downstairs with our 4 year old daughter and newborn son (born in October). My father-in-law, Ross, lives upstairs and has a couple spare bedrooms. I am originally from the United States and was an English teacher before I became a Mum, now I am a stay-at-home Mum and a part-time yoga teacher. My partner, Luke, is an ecologist. His father, Ross, is 83 and still very energetic and active. He recently traveled to Japan and is planning a trip to the US soon. He lives with a young woman from Japan who helps him with cooking and cleaning. We have a shy cat who lives downstairs.
We all love travelling. We would love to welcome you to our home. You would have your own quiet private room upstairs. You would share the bathroom with only 1 person.
It's a large, comfortable house offering a good balance of privacy and social interaction. Please be aware that we do expect a very high level of tidiness in shared spaces (kitchen, bathroom, etc). Please treat our house like a home rather than a hostel :)
Types of help and learning opportunities
Elderly Companionship
Babysitting and creative play
Creating/ Cooking family meals
Help around the house

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We have all travelled extensively. I grew up in the US and lived in Europe and Australia before settling in New Zealand. I was an English teacher previously, so would love to help you with your English if you need it.
My partner, Luke, is a Kiwi and his family have lived in this area for many generations. His father especially likes talking and telling stories :)
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
We would like you to help with cooking, childcare, and cleaning. Hours would be 4 hour blocks / 5 days per week. Childcare experience greatly valued. Work would be for 5 days then 2 days off.
We are vegetarian so shared meals would be vegetarian, too. This isn't a good place for someone who consumes a lot of meat but if you'd like to cook yourself meat in your own time (for lunch or breakfast for example), that's no problem!
