We are a nature reserve and yoga retreat centre based at the foot of the Llanganates national park in the Amazon rainforest. The aim of our project is to protect the wildlife within and share the values of simple living, high thinking with our visitors. We are currently looking for one or two volunteers to help with daily chores on the reserve who will work alongside Anderson, our Kichwa administrator. Tasks include cooking, cleaning, gardening and general maintenance,´ A lot of the work is physical so we need people who are not afraid of getting their hands dirty. You can learn about the local plants and harvest fruit from our tropical garden.

General Maintenance
You can learn about vegetarian cooking, medicinal plants, and how to plant and harvest different fruit. Our reserve is based on Vedic principles of peace and non violence and we request all the volunteers to refrain from bringing any meat, fish or eggs (or products containing them). Smoking, alcohol and drugs are not permitted on the reserve at any time. Our project is a place where you can connect to nature and learn to live a simpler, healthier form of life.
Volunteers can learn a lot about life in the Amazon whilst on the reserve, we plant and maintain lots of tropical fruit trees so there is lots to be done in the garden. There is always lots of maintenence to be done, sometimes painting, working on the pathways, carrying sand, firewood etc. We need help planting, composting and pruning... we have Cacao trees, Jackfruit, Pineapple, Papayas, Salak, Bananas, Plantain and Sugar Cane just to name a few. If you would like to contribute with any special skills you have please let us know!

At the moment we have a small attic with bunk beds for volunteers situated in our yoga lodge. When we have an overflow we can sometimes accomodate volunteers in guest rooms but they are mainly for guests as we have yoga retreats at the weekends.
The most important thing to bring is a smile and good will. Mosquito repellent, torch/flashlight, rain jacket, personal toiletries, sunhat and an extra pair of cheap flip flops or slippers (for indoors) will also come in handy! We will provide you with toilet paper, boots for working and a space to hand wash your clothes, please bring your own soap to do this, or we can hire out the washing machine for $3.00 if you need it. We cannot provide everyone with snacks throughout the day, please bring your own snacks if you enjoy munching between meals. There are many beautiful places to be visited in the area, including numerous waterfalls, natural pools and caves. We also offer Yoga and Spanish classes which can be taken in the mornings or afternoons, please contact us for prices.
