Description
Hello travelers and adventure seekers!
I grew up in Germany but have Croatian roots, and I’ve decided to spend the summer season in Croatia, where I’ve been working on my "House-Land-Nature Project" for the past three years. There’s always something to do—gardening, chopping firewood, repairing the gravel road, or working on natural stone projects. One thing’s for sure: it never gets boring!
Background: The house had been abandoned for four years. In the summer of 2022, I arrived with my T4 camper van and a lot of tools to start the renovation. The house has electricity and a natural spring in the forest for water. During the first two weeks, I stayed in my camper since the house was not yet habitable. After two weeks of work, it now has two bedrooms, my mobile home, and a tent as additional sleeping options. There is also a toilet, an outdoor shower, and an outdoor kitchen. In the summer of 2022, I hosted my first guests, and we had a great time.
In spring, I planted some garden beds. The land also has many fruit trees and about 50 grapevines, which could be cultivated further.
The house is located between Knin and Gračac in the Velebit Nature Park and is accessible only via a gravel road. This means you will be quite isolated from civilization, and getting around without a car can be challenging.
Besides gardening and helping on the land, there are many ways to experience the surrounding area. Some of the few neighbors in the area, although they live kilometers away, are sheep herders, and there is an opportunity to join them and help take care of the sheep.
One of my goals for 2025 is to complete the tiny house on the property.
