Description
Hello travellers and nature lovers,
I grew up in Germany but have Croatian roots. Over the last few years I've been spending my summers here, slowly bringing an old place back to life. I call it my little house-and-land project, and there's always something to do – gardening, cutting firewood, repairing the gravel road, or building small things with natural stone.
When I first arrived in 2022, the house had been empty for four years. I spent my first two weeks sleeping in my old VW T4 because the house wasn't livable yet. Since then, we've come a long way. There's now fresh spring water, two renovated bedrooms, a simple outdoor shower, and a small outdoor kitchen. It's still basic, but it's a comfortable place to live.
What I enjoy most isn't the work itself – it's what happens when a few people are here together. We cook outside, water the garden in the morning, sit around the fire in the evening, share tools, exchange ideas, and simply help each other out. Nobody has to organize much. Everyone contributes a little, and somehow everything gets done. It has a relaxed, natural feeling that's hard to describe.
At night, the sky is incredible. On clear evenings you can see the Milky Way stretching across the sky, and every now and then you can hear wolves howling somewhere in the distance. They stay well away from the house, but it reminds you that you're surrounded by real wilderness.
There are fruit trees, vegetable beds, and around 50 grapevines. Down by the river there's another piece of land that I'd love to develop over time – maybe with more fruit trees, a small vineyard, or whatever good ideas people bring. If you enjoy planting, building, or creating something together, you'll probably feel at home here.
The nearest neighbours are a few shepherds who live several kilometres away. They're friendly, welcoming people, and if you're curious, you can visit them or even spend some time helping with the sheep.
The house is located between Knin and Gračac, on the edge of Velebit Nature Park. Part of the journey is on a gravel road, so having a car is highly recommended. It's a remote place – ideal if you're looking for peace, nature, and a simple lifestyle rather than tourist attractions.
My goal for 2026 is to finish the tiny house on the property and continue shaping this place step by step.
If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, I'd be happy to welcome you. -
