Description
Hello, we are Elly, Sander, Wouter, Rolinda, and Niels, and together with our children Willem, Roos, Cato, Otis, and Rhea, we have started our non-profit, organic, and freehold community on a beautiful historic farm in Maasbree, the Netherlands.
Our project consists of seven communal homes, one hectare of permaculture landscape, a workshop, studios, and a community meeting space. There is also a fire pit and a 200-year-old small bakery. The farm is also home to two pigs, eight chickens, three dogs, and two cats. We have many animals visiting, such as birds, bats, owls, rabbits, butterflies, and more. For us, it is first and foremost important to connect with each other and to live and work together from that connection. Permaculture and Ubuntu are our way of life. Caring for the earth, the people, and sharing fairly. And having lots of fun together!

Help
- Maintaining the farm
- Working in the vegetable garden and permaculture garden
- Cooking once a week
We're maintaining the beautiful historic farmhouse and preparing the spaces for use. We're also preparing the mini-campsite for the new season. We're also working on the creation of the permaculture garden and have a small vegetable patch.
We'll start together at 8:30 am. We'll have an opening round where you can share how things are going and what you're looking forward to that day. We'll then coordinate who will be working where.
We work Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. These days we work together from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm, and on Fridays we work until 1:00 pm. We collaborate with all the volunteers (approximately 6) and members of the community. Weekends and afternoons are free.
One day a week you'll cook for the group, either alone or with another volunteer, and on all other days, we'll cook for you. We often eat together, but there is also the option to eat in your own cottage/accommodation if you want a bit more peace and quiet.

Accommodation
You will have a really nice furnished house to stay in, sharing with 3 persons max. These little houses contain 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a kitchen/living room. There will be 3 organic and mostly vegetarian meals a day. On the weekends there will be no cook but there will be ingredients available to help yourself.

What else ...
We as a community really like to eat, laugh, and work together on the farm. We also love making campfire and making music together. Playing is high on our to do list because we have a lot of children on the farm and they teach us how to not get too serious ;). In the area is mostly farming landscape, you can go for walks, to the city Venlo and visiting river the Maas. There is a busstop nearby (6 mins walk) going to Venlo Centraal, trainstation. We also have bikes available to use.

This was above all a human adventure, in a community (permanent hosts and volunteers) made up of authentic and different people who share a common vision of life.
I contributed to a small part of the huge project, by helping to renovate the old farm into 3… read more
