Description
I'm recently retired and live alone in a beautiful rural setting, although I'm rarely truly alone, as I love hosting people from all over the world. My house is in Arbeiza, a small village of about 200 inhabitants on the banks of the Ega River, just 3 km from Estella—a vibrant town with a rich cultural scene on the Camino de Santiago.
I worked as an art and geometry teacher, and I've always been passionate about all things related to art, construction, and crafts. Although I now have arthritis in my hands, I still enjoy tending my vegetable garden and flower garden, and I'd love to share this with others who also enjoy working with their hands.
Estoy recién jubilada y vivo sola en un entorno rural precioso, aunque rara vez estoy realmente sola, ya que me encanta recibir gente de diferentes partes del mundo. Mi casa está en Arbeiza, un pequeño pueblo de unos 200 habitantes a orillas del río Ega, a solo 3 km de Estella — una localidad con mucha vida y ambiente cultural en el Camino de Santiago.
He trabajado como profesora de arte y geometría, y siempre me ha apasionado todo lo relacionado con el arte, la construcción y el trabajo manual. Aunque ahora tengo artritis en las manos, sigo disfrutando cuidando mi huerto y jardín, y me encantaría compartir esto con personas a las que también les guste trabajar con las manos.

This is an ideal place for someone seeking a peaceful rural experience, surrounded by nature, yet close to a vibrant village. Volunteers can enjoy:

- A welcoming, friendly, and family-like atmosphere
I am a very open and approachable person, and I like everyone who comes to feel at home. If you are easygoing, you will quickly become part of the family.
I speak Spanish and French, and people of any nationality are welcome. The only requirement is to have at least a basic level of Spanish so we can communicate and share in daily life.
🛠️ What help do I need?
I would appreciate about 3 hours of help per day, mainly with:
- The vegetable garden and plants
- General house and garden maintenance
- Small practical tasks (tools, fencing, etc.)
The help is varied and flexible, and I adapt to each person's interests and abilities.

Este es un lugar ideal para alguien que busca una experiencia rural tranquila, rodeado de naturaleza, pero muy cerca de una ciudad con vida. Los voluntarios pueden disfrutar de:
- Un estilo de vida relajado, con posibilidad de recorridos de mucho interés en la naturaleza
- Intercambio cultural y conversaciones enriquecedoras
- Aprender sobre jardinería, mantenimiento tradicional y vida local

Soy una persona muy abierta y cercana, y me gusta que quien venga se sienta en casa. Si eres una persona easy-going, rápidamente pasarás a ser uno más de la familia.
Hablo español y francés, y personas de cualquier nacionalidad son bienvenidas. El único requisito es tener al menos un nivel básico de español para poder comunicarnos y compartir el día a día.
🛠️ Qué ayuda necesito
Agradecería unas 2 ó 3 horas de ayuda al día, principalmente en:
- El huerto y las plantas
- Mantenimiento general de la casa y el jardín
- Pequeñas tareas prácticas (herramientas, valla, etc.)
El trabajo es variado y flexible, y me adapto a los intereses y capacidades de cada persona.

Accommodation
🏡 Accommodation and Lifestyle
The house is a large, four-story home, offering a variety of spaces and a good degree of independence.
Accommodation options include private or shared rooms. Volunteers will have access to a bathroom primarily for their use, providing comfort and privacy.
There is also a separate apartment on the ground floor, available only during certain periods (as it is rented out at certain times). When available, it includes bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen, offering even more independence.
Even when the apartment is unavailable, volunteers will have their own comfortable space within the house.
I am happy to include volunteers in my daily life—everyone can choose their preferred level of participation.
The food is healthy, natural, and locally sourced. Typical times are:
Breakfast around 9:00 AM
Lunch around 2:00 PM
More informal dinner
Food will always be available in the kitchen, and you can help yourself to whatever you need at any time if you are hungry.
If you enjoy cooking, you are more than welcome to prepare dishes and share your cooking.
🏡 Alojamiento y estilo de vida
La casa es una vivienda grande de 3 plantas, y más de 7 habitaciones lo que permite tener diferentes espacios y bastante independencia.
El alojamiento puede ser en habitación privada o compartida. Además, los voluntarios tendrán acceso a un baño que será mayormente para su uso, lo que aporta comodidad y privacidad.
También hay un apartamento independiente en la planta baja, que está disponible solo en algunos periodos (ya que en ciertas épocas se alquila). Cuando está disponible, cuenta con habitaciones, salón y cocina, ofreciendo aún más independencia.
Incluso cuando el apartamento no esté disponible, los voluntarios tendrán su propio espacio cómodo dentro de la casa.
Al mismo tiempo, estaré encantada de incluir a los voluntarios en mi día a día — cada uno puede elegir el nivel de convivencia que prefiera.
La comida es saludable, natural y de proximidad. Normalmente:

What else ...
Besides providing bicycles for short trips, I drive my car and can take you to bus stations. I can also take you on tours of the area. I enjoy spending time with curious, creative, cheerful, and vibrant people.
Además de proporcionarles bicicleta para trayectos cortos yo conduzco mi coche y puedo aproximarles a estaciones de autobuses. Y también hacer recorridos por la zona. Disfruto compartiendo con personas curiosas, creativas, alegres y vitales .
