A rustic house with wooden doors sits in a lush garden. Outdoor furniture, a table, plants, and trees create a peaceful rural atmosphere on a sunny day.
Golden sunlight filters through leafy tree branches, illuminating a green grassy field and a dirt path under a partly cloudy sky in this peaceful countryside scene.
A rustic outdoor setup with a wooden pergola, grill, and table on grassy lawn. Wine bottles, dishes, and a dog resting under the table create coziness.
A vibrant pink rose blooms among green leaves and buds. A wooden pergola with a hanging light bulb sits behind, with sunset and trees in the background.
A golden dog is peacefully napping on a cozy, tassel-covered blanket, surrounded by soft pillows, in a warm, inviting, bohemian-style living room.

    Description

We are a couple from Cyprus and Chile living with our two animals in the green mountains of Cyprus. While most people know Cyprus for its beautiful mediterranean beaches, our home is surrounded by native pine forest and waters. We have moved here a year and a half ago when the house and place was in a very abandoned conditions and we have fixed it and turned into our what is now one of our favorite places on earth - so full of life and flowers and birds. The house is surrounded by a large field full of olive, plum, fig and grape trees, and hikes to mountains, ancient bridges and wildlife. While in the forest, beautiful beaches and buzzy city life are only a short drive away and so we feel that we get the best of both worlds.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

At our home we bring a mixture of Chilean and Cypriot culture. We speak fluent Spanish, English and Greek. We love to cook and eat well! We very often cook traditional dishes from our countries. We have lived in various countries and we can share all our experiences and networks with those countries too. We are happy to show you around the island, and talk about its history, culture, beach life, mountain life. In general, we would love you to be happy, so we can connect you with people of similar interests however we can. In our everyday life we work in the house/field, we go to the beaches and the city, we go and play tennis at a nearby sport centre, we hike a lot and we enjoy a good coffee!

Since we are new at this way of working, we would love to host people that will bring some knowledge of sustainable living, creative workshops ideas and other educational projects that one can do in nature.

  • Help

    Help

We have moved here 1.5 years ago but we still need some help to:

    - finish the house (painting mainly)
    - help with building of an outside yoga platform and shade
    - help with the vegetable and herb garden
    - create a watering system
    - and fence the place

We will be working together on these tasks. We take coffee breaks, and share all our knowledge of whatever we know: from planting, grooming trees, traveling in the world, building your own organisation, and living a simpler lifestyle.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will have your own private room - which is adjacent to the house. For starters we will be sharing the same bathroom and toilet but our intention is to build a dry toilet and shower outside. There is plenty of space outside for you to rest or spent your free time.

We provide 3 meals a day. Breakfast, late lunch, and dinner. We prepare our meals together, or one of the host will prepare depending on the work been done. We will eat lunch all together, and breakfast and dinner is flexible. We follow a mainly vegetarian diet with the occasional fish/seafood dishes.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There are so many things that we can do with your time off.
The public transport here is not the best - but we try and accommodate you as much as possible with our own driving.
If you rent your own car you will be king/queen! but if not we will do our best to find solutions for you - and here the distances are really close to be honest.
