    Description

We are a family with four children (9,7,2,0) living in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by nature - yet still in the Heart of Riviera Maya, one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. We need 20 minutes to both Cancun and Playa del Carmen by Car.

We originally come from Germany, but have now been living abroad for six years, the past 2.5 years in Mexico.

We have a property of half a hectare, where our (off-grid) house is located, as well as a bungalow situated about 30 meters away from the house.

We love the peace and connection with nature, the solitude, and still enjoy being close to the beach (6.7 km / 4.2 miles), as well as having access to large supermarkets with international products and a good bus connection. Also major cities to the north and south offering every convenience.

Puerto Morelos is the best Place in the world for us. Is has a cute typical Mexican town (la Colonia) and a touristy beach area with still the old fishing village vibe.

My husband and I have traveled a lot and experienced many different things. Immigrated twice to different countries. We love deep/ meaningful exchange, but also peace, quiet and just being with our family.
With us, you’ll find Nature, family life, a place where you can concentrate on yourself and overall tranquility (although four children need to be quite loud and wild sometimes 🥳).
We are friendly people that like to connect but you should be comfortable to also spend time by yourself in your area or on tour.

I was as an Au-Pair for one year so i did pretty much the same thing we ask of you: live with strangers and suddenly be part of their inner family life.

At least every second or third day, we need to go into town, to the beach, or visit friends (with a pool 😄 ) , getting out of the jungle and enjoying some variety. You are welcome to come with us.

Here in the jungle, we live in our little family bubble, spending a lot of time in our garden and house, and otherwise living a fairly quiet life.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for help with basic household chores and childcare.

This means boring but simple tasks such as:
    - helping with grocerie shopping
    -maybe food preparation
-sweeping and maybe mopping the common areas, but especially:
    -washing dishes.
We don’t want a cleaning lady and we will also clean ourselves, especially our bathrooms and bedrooms.

If you and we/ our child get along well, it could also include:
-spending some time in the house and garden with one of our kids, our two-and-a-half-year-old child (the others are in school, the baby is with me) all while we are at home with you the entire time.

If you are a native Spanish speaker we would also love to learn more Spanish by having conversations. But speaking Spanish is not a necessity!

This host offers a language exchange
We are interested in Spanish because even though our two older children already speak it fluently, we adults still have a lot to learn. But it’s ok if you don’t speak Spanish. We speak good English and, of course, German. You should speak at least basic English or German so we can communicate without devices.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will have your own small house/ cabin/ bungalow next to our home — close enough to be within hearing distance, yet still completely private. There is a fence with a gate between the two properties.

It is very simple constructed, it does not meet typical western standards of a house.

There is a a big bathtub, a dining area with an option of cooking, a kind of anliving room with a hammock, followed by a small spiral staircase leading to the second floor with the sleeping area with queen size bed

OF COURSE WITH MATTRESS, PILLOWS, BLANKETS AND EVERYTHING ONE OR TWO NEEDS TO SLEEP COMFY

with bathroom (normal water toilet) with shower and a giant hammock style net chill out area. There are no glass windows only mosquito screens. It will have a ventilator. (No AC)

The bungalow has been standing for ten years and was used as an Airbnb accommodation by the previous owners.

    Food included.

    What else ...

We have a home gym machine that you can use. You can drive to town by bike anytime you want and we would take you with us when we go to the city or the beach if you want.
By living in Puerto Morelos there are 1000s of different opportunities for you to do in your free time.
