Our beautiful Sanctuary home is located in the rainbow region of Australia and is nested in the outer caldera of an ancient super volcano, known to the indigenous Bundjalung people as Wollumbin.
In close proximity to Byron Bay and some of the most stunning beaches in the world, the property features lush rainforest, gardens, clean, pristine waters and is rich in diverse indigenous flora and fauna.
We are seeking experienced builders, carpenters, tilers, artists (painters/mosaic) & permaculture farmers to help us with some specific projects over the next 12 months. Please read on if this describes you.

Help with Eco Projects
At our Sanctuary we offer an off-the-grid experience within 15 minutes of a township brimming with great little shops, healthy cafes, world class coffee and plenty of interesting things to do/see. We're also blessed to have a fresh water stream winding through the property which is perfect for swimming/bathing, a temezcal where we practice traditional sweat lodge and plenty of spaces to write, paint, contemplate, practice yoga and/or meditation alone or in small groups.
A family of musicians and artists, we are very creative and open to sharing with new people in whatever way that unfolds. Where the opportunity arises, our Volunteers are invited to take part in private workshops we hold onsite including Qi Gong, Yoga, Meditation, Music & Sound workshops.
Over the next year we are putting together a plan to renovate existing structures on our property as well as construct a few larger spaces and a number of simple single occupant dwellings. For these specific projects we'd love to hear from you if you have experience in building, sustainable construction, carpentry, tiling, plumbing and mosaic or stained glass art.
We'll also be building an Goa-inspired outdoor space, some edible gardens and landscaping around all the areas mentioned here. For these visions we're hoping to connect with fellow artists and travellers with an understanding and some experience in Permaculture, Horticulture or Landscape Design.
Volunteers at our Sanctuary home stay in beautiful bell tents (image in gallery) nestled amongst trees with access to clean bathrooms plus beautiful indoor and outdoor hot water showers.
We provide healthy, mostly vegetarian, food grown on the property or sourced from the surrounding area; such as fruit, vegetables, bread, eggs, nuts, seeds, etc, and a space to prepare meals. Due to the fertile volcanic soils, our local fruit and vegetables are super tasty and highly nourishing. We guarantee you will leave our Sanctuary reset and more vibrant than when you arrived.
Please note that we provide mattress and pillows, but suggest that our helpers come with their own sleeping bags for warmth and additional comfort.
The greater area of the Northern Rivers where we're located is the eastmost point of Australia and internationally renowned for its beautiful Pacific beaches, migratory whales, fertile valleys, spectacular waterfalls and endless nature walks. As a helper, you will have plenty of time to explore the area with the gift of local knowledge.
At this stage we are seeking individuals who are confident in their capacity to contribute towards the projects mentioned above so please do not reach out if you do not have the experience or skills highlighted in this description.
In the future, we will be interested in hosting a broader array of Volunteers to assist with the upkeep and general maintenance of the structures and gardens that we're in the process of building. Thank you for your understanding.
