    Description

Welcome to Hertsby, on the South Coast of Finland 🌿

My name is Georg, and I live on a small country farm in the village of Sipoo, about 30 minutes from Helsinki. My home is surrounded by forest and open fields – a place for calm, nature, and meaningful work.

I run a small organic farm, as clean and natural food is one of my main passions. I’m also interested in yoga and meditation, and it’s a great plus if you’re into training or wellness – maybe even someone who could act a little bit like a personal trainer or workout partner. I value simplicity, honesty, and genuine human connection.

I appreciate the quiet life here in the countryside, but when it’s time to work, I like to do things properly and with focus. I’m not vegan or vegetarian and eat some meat, preferably from local and ethically sourced farms. I enjoy using organic ingredients and cooking natural, homemade food, while respecting all kinds of dietary choices.
It’s an extra bonus if you also enjoy cooking, especially if you like trying new, simple, and healthy recipes.

I also love sauna and winter swimming – it brings both energy and stillness. You’re welcome to join me if you’d like!
As a balance to country life, I also enjoy spending time in Helsinki now and then – going to yoga classes, bathing, or simply having a coffee and enjoying the city atmosphere.

I’m preferably looking for a volunteer for a longer stay, since it often takes a few weeks to get to know each other and find a natural rhythm in working together. The most important qualities for me are reliability, kindness, and a genuine wish to live close to nature.
If the chemistry feels right, there’s also a possibility for paid work in the longer term.

We will share the same house, so it’s important that we show mutual respect in daily life – giving each other space, keeping quiet during evenings and nights, and appreciating the peaceful atmosphere here.

I value people who are independent and self-motivated, who enjoy working calmly and methodically after some initial guidance – without needing constant coordination.

Over the years, I’ve hosted volunteers from many parts of the world and truly enjoy exchanging thoughts, experiences, and culture in a natural way. Every encounter has been unique and rewarding. I believe that sharing daily life – meals, laughter, and quiet moments – is the real richness of life.

Before we make any decisions, I like to have a short video chat via WhatsApp or similar, just to see that the chemistry feels right for both of us – it usually gives a good sense of how cooperation will work.

Staying here offers a chance to experience authentic Finnish countryside life — calm, simple, and close to nature. You can learn about organic farming, practical maintenance work, and seasonal rhythms of rural life.

You’ll also experience local traditions such as sauna and winter swimming, and if you’re interested, we can visit Helsinki together sometimes for yoga classes, swimming, or just to enjoy the city atmosphere.

This is a good place for someone who wants to slow down a bit, connect with nature, and learn to balance practical work with peaceful living.

  • Help

    Help

The help I need depends a little on the season, but it usually includes light farm tasks, gardening, taking care of the yard, and helping with daily tasks around the house. Sometimes there might be small repair or maintenance projects as well.

I appreciate people who work with care and focus, and who enjoy doing things properly rather than rushing. You don’t need to be an expert — the most important thing is a good attitude and a genuine interest in learning.

If you enjoy cooking, that’s a great plus, as I like to share homemade meals and simple, healthy food.

You will stay in my countryside home, a peaceful house surrounded by forest and open fields. We live in the same house, but there is plenty of space, and I value mutual respect, privacy, and quiet evenings.

At the moment, I’m doing some light renovation work on the upper floor after a small water leak. The area is a bit under renovation, but still perfectly livable and comfortable. The house itself is older and simple, but has a warm, authentic atmosphere.

You’ll have access to the kitchen, bathroom, and sauna, and there’s a good internet connection.

    What else ...

During your free time, you can enjoy peaceful walks in the forest or along the nearby fields. There are beautiful lakes and nature trails in the area, and I sometimes go swimming or winter dipping if you’d like to join.

The village center of Nickby is close by and has shops, cafés, and other basic services. Helsinki is about 30 minutes away by car or bus, and it’s easy to visit for a yoga class, swimming, or just to enjoy the city atmosphere.

Evenings here are calm and quiet — a good time for sauna, reading, or simply sharing a cup of tea in peace. This is a place for someone who enjoys nature, balance, and simple living.

    Mette Marit

I share my home with one cat — she’s calm, gentle, and quite social once she gets to know you. At first, she can be a little reserved and appreciates when people move quietly and respectfully around her.

She’s around ten years old, a real little queen who loves attention on her own terms. She enjoys being held and sometimes likes to sleep close if you allow her.
