Description
My name is Edith and I'm living on a 3,5 acre (1,5 ha) property in a rural area, with a mountain surrounding, about 150 km south-east from Montréal, Québec. Our view on the Appalachian mountains is just fabulous.
I 'm an organic gardener (today they call that permaculture!) for over 40 years and I'm teaching it as well as flowering lawns and meadows. But my husband (Christian) and I are now around the 80ies and many tasks seem more and more exhausting!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
The social life in our small village (2000 inhabitants) is very dynamic : we have a well-stocked library at the town-hall, yoga classes, pickleball, etc. depending on the season and movie screenings every 2 weeks .
The population here is originally from all over Europe, especially from Germany, France, Poland, Ukraine and of course from the US since we are at the border. We have a little polish store, a nice French bakery and the village grocery store is now owned by a family from Afghanistan.
We have done house-exchanges for over 40 years and we are interested to meet other people and cultures.Help
I will need help essentially in the garden in the fall and the spring. I can teach all about it such as planning, composting, mulching, etc. We can do it together but we both are quickly tired. We planted a windbreak about twenty years ago and it requires maintenance. There's also some small culverts to repair over the ditches, posts to replace in the garden fence, etc.

We are bilingual but we speak French at home and you could learn the basics of French conversation.Accommodation
We have a complete finished basement with guest rooms and a full bathroom and living-room. This will allow some privacy for workawayers when needed. We'll provide bedsheets and towels of course and access to our laundry room.
I can provide meals and show about cooking, especially gluten-free/dairy-free diets. But Christian has a regular diet, so there is no problem for that too.
We can host a couple or a single person. What else ...
Our area is just beautiful and ideal for hiking or visit villages around . We have a huge lake (42 km long) with a little beach 5 minutes from our house. Also a ski hill open in winter only of course. The closest town (Magog) is about 35 min away and a major town (Sherbrooke) is about one hour.
If transportation is a problem to come to our house, we can pick you up at a bus stop and drive you back again on w.e. for visiting Montréal or Québec.
We are 20 min away from the US border (Vermont).A little more information
