    Description

We are on a journey building a new life, home, and community off-grid. Finding inspired intuitive functional solutions that add true comfort organically - living with and guided by the integrity of nature herself.

Dustin grew up in the mountains of Western Oregon, earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and traveled the world (30+ countries) interested in learning simple truths and perspective from the beautiful tapestry of people's life choices and circumstance. I built a career working for Honda doing Engineering and leadership (still my day job) - and after a decade living in the city moved here in July 2016. With the help of many friends, family and travelers, we have been building a wonderful place to live and enjoy the bounty of cathartic blissful nature.

Heidi Shakti is a beacon of holistic wellness and loving kindness. She is a licensed acupuncturist and kundalini yoga teacher, practices deep caring and action based stewardship of the environment here on our land and of the planet, she is an intrepid culinary guide and an inspiring leader of daily movement for physical, mental and spiritual health. Currently splitting her time between the Retreat and her primary home in Ohio.

Our 40 acres is in a mountainous (by Alabama standards) forest with waterfalls, wildlife and private swimming holes surrounded by miles more of Talladega National forest.

We love teamwork and evening dinner social time.

    Help

We are building an off grid homestead and nature retreat on 40 acres surrounded by the Talladega National Forest. Looking for select volunteers to help work and live alongside us.

We are working on hiking trails, and camp sites, gathering and chopping firewood, building a house for Grandma and Grandpa Parks on the other side of our property and making community fire circles.

Help is needed stacking firewood to fill the woodshed, feeding the chickens, cooking, cleaning in the community kitchen/dining pavilion and host's cabin, construction help and helping support the off grid homestead activities. Cleaning of host cabin and cooking shared meals with host family - not for retreat guests.

    Accommodation

Volunteers are provided a pre setup tent with a real mattress, linens, sleeping bags and pillow for sleeping and common use of the kitchen / dining community pavilion (The Valhalla). Also, we have Actually Hot showers.

All food is provided, we usually do an evening meal all together and daytime meals are individual preparation.

Some help is needed supporting retreat guests (less than one hour per day), remaining hours are homestead support. Small cash pay is provided [$50/week] to cover the time helping with retreat business.
