Description
Hello and welcome! My name is Abdallah and I run a Bedouin camp in the Wadi Rum desert together with my father Madallah. We are members of the Zalabieh tribe, our ancestors lived here for centuries. We love our homeland and like to invite you to come and experience our lifestyle and the desert. We are very proud to show this little paradise to our guests - in the camp or on a guided tour.
The camp itself lies below a beautiful, rocky peak with an incredible view from our big dining tent. It is a wonderful place to stay and work with us. In your free time, you can hike the open desert, climb peaks, learn Arabic, relax in the camp or participate in one of our jeep or camel tours. If you are a rock climber, there are some nice boulders just behind the camp.
The variety of jobs at the camp never leaves you bored. From helping with the tourists, helping online, to general maintenance in the camp, we will be happy to count on you. There is something for everyone here!Types of help and learning opportunities

During your stay, you will experience real Bedouin culture in our camp - our food, our way of life in the desert. You will have also the opportunity to learn or to practice your Arabic. And you will make friends for a lifetime :D
Your accomodation and all meals as all transports to/from the camp are provided for free for you.Projects involving children

We will provide you with your own private, comfortable tent in the camp. When work is needed in the village of Wadi Rum, we also offer a stay in your own room in our family home. Weather permitting, you can also choose to stay for the night just under the stars in the desert.
You eat (three times a day) with our guests in the camp or when in the village with our family. If you are vegetarian, no problem. Just let us know! What else ...
We offer a very safe, respectful and charming enviroment for our workawayers. We welcome both men and women to be with us. Please understand that we can only accept applications with a minimum stay of two weeks. We are a very tolerant and understanding family and expect this also from our future volunteers.
What to bring? You do not need any special equipment or clothing for your work in the camp. If you want to go online, you will need either a smartphone or a laptop with WiFi capacity. When you come during the winter months, be aware that nights can be cold - warm clothes are essential. Some people wish to bring their sleeping bag for their comfort (but we provide enough blankets for you). Hiking boots are a must when climbing the mountains behind the camp.A little more information
