    Description

We'd like to welcome 2 volunteers aged 18 to 30 – for the end of May and month of June 2026.
We are a forest school for young children aged 2 – 12 years old, and are part of a non-profit organization that takes care of an 8ha farm, in Portagem - Marvão. We strongly believe that education in nature is best for human health and the health of the planet, and we also value free play and creativity very highly. We are located near the border with Spain, in a multicultural region with an amazing landscape and culture. We value community and are constantly working to build bridges between traditional and new ways of living.

As a volunteer with the forest school, you will be accompanying 11 children alongside two forest school leaders. The day starts at 9.30 and finishes at 3,45, Tuesday to Friday and consists mainly of free play in our magical forest setting. Tasks may include: spending time with a small group of children on an activity they have chosen to do, such as clay activities or building; being present so that children can play freely and safely; setting up or clearing away tasks; helping with walks; swimming in the springwater tank : ) . You will always do activities with the other leaders. As the school is a forest school it is always held outside, although we have a cabin with a log burner for bad weather days. You should definitely enjoy being outdoors, it is a fantastic bit of outdoors to be in!
