    Description

Hi guys, my name is Ana and I'm looking for help to manage a magic place and of course exchange knowledge for food and accommodation.
Our 7ha property is located on the outskirts of Montemor-o-Novo, Évora. Rural Alentejo only AN HOUR from Lisbon.

We are a family originally from Angola, meaning we enjoy big gatherings every weekend. My family acquired this property over 15 years ago and ever since we've been transforming this place into a beautiful paradise. We wish to get actively involved in preserving it the best we can, reforesting the area, building new structures and improving every area in general.

Living in the main house you will find auntie Zita and uncle João. Auntie specializes in planting trees and flower gardens all over the land, and uncle João used be dedicated to managing the pool and the vineyard. We have a gardener for feeding the animals, mowing and irrigation however, wee need help with better managing the food garden, construction and implementing other ideas.
There are plenty of palm trees, fruit trees with apples, pears, figs and berries, a greenhouse for vegetables, toolshed, a chicken coop, a zen garden, a small vineyard, and a little trail to walk around the river.

Montemor isn't so small of a town, it should have everything you need. For shopping mall, cinema, bigger supermarkets and other cultural activities you can visit Évora, the district's capital (beautiful ancient Roman town) only 20 minutes away.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

What we offer is a comfortable experience for people looking forward to escape the city and work hands-on earth.
We provide accommodation, groceries, and access to all of the facilities, there's plenty to do in the property and in town. We plan to arrange a car in case one of you has a driving license to make it easier for errands, but so far bikes are available for short distance trips. We can always agree on different terms for working hours, based on each others' needs.

A personalized volunteering plan will be prepared based on each's personality, routine and learning preferences.

Looking for fun, active and responsible individuals!

We need pro-active people who we can trust with our home. If you have experience or a drive to learn permaculture and hydroponics you are very welcome to apply. We need someone to overlook the gardens, someone with maintenance experience for any little issues that may arise like sewage, lighting, fixing small fixtures and so on. We also would appreciate someone with building experience with wood as we plan to put together a platform-like structure for yoga/ sunset watching.
Of course we also look for help around the house, but I guess that goes without saying, since community living is the main basis of this exchange.

Ideally, I'd like to find the perfect team of pals, looking for a laid back time managing a farm and having fun with an Angolan family.

Montemor-o-Novo is a great little town with great produce, vineyards, lots of cattle and a beautiful walking track along an old train station, that has now been transformed into a chocolate factory (FYI). Here you can find an underground scene with artisans, designers and modern craftsmen that gather around their awesome workshop site, an old convent.

For a bigger city centre, cinema, skydiving or other activities you can go to Évora, a medieval Roman city only a 30 min bus ride. The city is full of students and tourists and is a great local spot to walk around, party and see the old architecture.

The most beautiful beaches on the coast (in my opinion) are also only an hour drive (Tróia, Comporta, Arrábida).
Lisbon is an hour bus drive away (wifi on board), just amazing!
