    Description

    We're a couple of artists and craft-lovers living in a farmhouse just outside Valencia, working on a long-term project to restore and transform the house using traditional mosaic and tile techniques. Our days involve making mosaics, restoring antique tiles, and designing the facade of our house. We’re not running a business; this is a personal creative project.

    Our house is in the middle of the Horta Nord, a historic agricultural region just north of the city of Valencia. This area is known for its farmland, centuries-old irrigation canals, and a peaceful, rural vibe that’s still very much alive. Orange groves, vegetable fields, and quiet lanes winding through small villages where time seems to slow down.

    If you have a background or strong interest in design, architecture, ceramics, or fine manual work, you’ll find this experience both enriching and satisfying. This isn’t a “chill art hangout”, it’s hands-on work that requires focus, creativity, and initiative.

    Life here has a beautiful rhythm: quiet mornings, physical work with your hands, great food, and bike rides through the orange groves at sunset. We’re surrounded by nature but just 20 minutes from Valencia city centre — the perfect mix of countryside calm and urban culture.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    We love creating a space where people can connect, share, and have fun together. When we’re not in the workshop, we enjoy going on bike rides through the orange groves, playing board games, cooking meals together, and sometimes even having a little poetry recital night in the garden or on the roof.

    We’re also happy to share what we know, whether it’s computer programming, poetry, or home-cooked food. And we’re equally excited to learn from you, whether it's a recipe from your home country, a new way of thinking, or a different perspective on life.

  • Help

    Help

    1. Mosaic Design & Creation
    You’ll help develop and execute mosaics for our interior and exterior spaces. Depending on your experience, you may:
    * Help brainstorm and sketch visual concepts for facades and garden walls
    * Cut and shape ceramic pieces with precision tools
    * Compose, glue, and grout mosaic surfaces

    Ideally we're looking for people comfortable working with color, pattern, or composition.

    2. Antique Tile Restoration
    We’re cleaning and restoring old tiles for reuse around our home. This includes:
    * Pressure-washing tiles
    * Removing mortar by hand (picks, brushes)
    * Applying cleaning/conditioning products
    * Drying and sorting tiles with care

    This is physical, detailed work that suits people who enjoy restoring order and working with their hands.

    3. General House Tasks
    A few hours each week may go toward helping us keep the space running smoothly (e.g., basic cleaning, helping in the garden, organizing tools, or cooking)

    We’re looking for guests who:
    * Have creative/design background or strong curiosity
    * Are detail-oriented, patient, and take pride in physical work
    * Can follow instructions but also take initiative and ask questions
    * Are comfortable working independently once shown what to do
    * Enjoy learning new skills and solving small problems

    This is not a good fit if you're mainly looking to relax, need constant direction, or dislike repetitive manual work.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

    You'll have your own private double room in our home, perfect for solo travelers or couples. The room has a south-facing window that looks out over the surrounding fields and farmland, a peaceful, green view to wake up to each morning. It’s a cozy, simple space where you can relax and have some quiet time when you need it.

    We eat at irregular hours but we like to share meals, and we cook extra so there’s always something good to eat. Not every meal is communal, so there’s a nice balance of togetherness and independence.

    The kitchen is shared and open to use, and we’re always happy to swap recipes or cook something up as a team. Our kitchen is VEGAN, all meals are plant-based. We keep the kitchen free of animal products.

    We prefer travellers who are early risers and enjoy a calm evening atmosphere.

    Valencia’s vibrant city centre is just a 20-minute bike ride away! So you’ll get the best of both worlds: countryside living with easy access to the beach, cafes, markets, and all the culture the city has to offer.

    You can borrow our bikes.

    🏡 House Guidelines for a Great Stay
    We’re happy to have you here! This is a shared, creative home, and our goal is to make it feel welcoming, inspiring, and comfortable for everyone. These guidelines will help keep things running smoothly.

    📆 Daily Rhythm
    * Your help is deeply appreciated for 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. We prefer to have these hours in the morning (roughly 9:00 to 14:00).
    * We’re flexible with schedules, and it’s important we talk them through together in advance.
    * We’ll add you to a small, temporary WhatsApp group just for the time you’re here. When you leave, we’ll remove you so you don’t get spammed with messages meant for the next guests.

    🍽️ Kitchen & Meals
    * You’re welcome to help yourself to any food or drinks in the kitchen. If you finish something, just let us know so we can update the grocery list.
    * We tend to eat meals at irregular times, and we usually cook once a day in batches. You're always welcome to join us for a meal or to eat on your own schedule if that suits you better. Just let us know your eating preferences upfront (whether you'd like to eat with us or do your own thing). This helps us plan and avoid cooking twice.
    * We enjoy cooking, and you’re more than welcome to cook too — just let us know in advance when you’d like to cook so we can coordinate kitchen time and meal prep.
    * After eating, please:
    * Fill the dishwasher (prioritising smaller items).
    * Wash by hand wooden items and big knives.
    * Wipe surfaces with vinegar.
    * If you’re not eating at home on a given day, please tell us so we don’t cook more than needed.

    🌿 General House Etiquette
    * No smoking indoors, please.
    * No shoes inside the house.
    * Quiet hours are from 22:00 to 08:00 — please keep voices low and close doors gently.
    * If you go out, please try to return home before 22:00 to respect quiet hours and the household rhythm. Let us know if you anticipate arriving later.
    * If you’d like to have a guest over, please ask us beforehand.

    🧹 Workshop & Creative Space
    * If you're working on mosaics or restoration, please mop the workshop’s floor and surfaces every two days to keep dust from collecting.
    * Keep the workshop tidy and return tools to their place after use.
    * If you’re working on your own creative project while here, let us know — we would love to support you.

    🧺 Laundry
    We’re happy to help with laundry — just let us know two days in advance so we can plan around it.

    🌱 Rest Days
    We’re flexible with rest days. Let’s agree on what works best together.

    🚿 Plumbing
    Please don’t throw anything non-biodegradable — such as wipes, oils, or sanitary products — into the sink or toilet.

    🚀 Before you leave
    Please put all your bed linen in the washing machine and dedicate one work hour to cleaning your bathroom (sink, toilet, shower).

    🤝 Communication
    * Share feedback, ask questions, help us improve. We really value transparency. If something isn’t working for you, please speak up.
    * We want this to be a mutually beneficial experience that supports all of us as artists and collaborators. Let’s help each other grow and create better art.
