    Description

    Hi there,

After a very first and positive experience as workawayer, I thought it would be time to be on the other side as host and to welcome you in the most incredible place you'll find on earth: Tromsø!

10 years ago, I stumbled into this website as being the best opportunity to have a first foot in a country I didn't know anything of. I've met a wonderful familly near the Lofoten islands that made my stay so incredible, that I felt myself more as a part of a familly, than just a mere volunteer. After that, I've never left Norway and decided to build my own company and that's precisely where I would need your help. I run a streetfood business in this majestic Arctic town called Tromsø, that I've never managed to leave because of too much beauty, and I'd need some specific help for some maintenance this summer, in order to best prepare the next winter season.

In a dream world, you'd be a skilled carpenter/electrician/soldering person or all of this at the same time, with his/her own tools who can spend some times here at my house for some restauration/fixing projects. Since it's kind of a specific job that require tools and skills that I don't have, I'm willing to agree on a small wage on the top of hosting and feeding you of 250krs/hour.

In an even more perfect world, you'd be travelling together with your partner who can help out with simple painting here and there. That partner can be the "regular" workawayer, working 4hours a day for 5days a week (scheduled to be completely flexible according to weather forecast, and mood), as volunteer, while the other partner will be the "skilled" one, working the whole day and actually getting paid for it.

I have multiple trolleys, and a house that need some care and maintenance. So here is where I'd need your help:

    House:
Electricity to be done in the two bathrooms I have
All windows and doors to be changed so we don't freeze in winter.
Staircase and hallway to be repaired
Painting on some parts of it

    Mulled wine bar kiosk:
Complete painting on the outer side of this historic kiosk

    French crêpes trolley:
    New rewiring battery system
    Soldering
    Painting

    Dumpling and Waffle trolley:
    Soldering
    Lighting
    Electricity/battery system
Inox plate to be cut and fixed
    painting

I'm also a freelance sound engineer with a sound studio that needs some custom made furnitures and painting ofc.

The place I live in which you'll stay is right in the city center of Tromsø, and I know this town just like my pocket. I can take you to all the stuffs that tourists will never know about and places that will most likely make you stay longer than you think. Tromsø is a real drug, once caught, you'll never leave, but for the better ! ;) And I'll try my very best to make you feel part of this town too. When we're at work, we're at work, but it's good also to enjoy our free time in the best possible way to get to best know each others. This town and this country in general is lacking skilled people with a strong sense of service. If your plan is to stay here for longer period and to make a living out of your skills, this is definately the right place for you. Having built my own business without speaking Norwegian, I could absolutely help you on this and many other things. On the top of that, I brew my own beer, bake my own bread, and you'll get garanteed to get the best masala chaï in town nearly everyday! ;) Midnight sun in summer is also a good time for hiking, camping and so on, so it'd be great to get some fresh air outside of town as well from time to time.

    Accommodation

Full house, right in the city center, three floors all together, the top two floors are for shared, 5bedrooms total, the ground floor needs help on renovation and has 3bedrooms. I'm alone living in this whole house in summer so space is really not a problem. I don't smoke but you're welcome to do it outside if you please.

Can't have pets inside the house, but they're welcome to stay inside your van/vehicule and hang out outside (my company rents out the house to another company, so I have freedom, but not too much)
